Not sure I can Kenny. You'd better get there early -  as you say,  it's a small venue

Thanks anyway but following the link and trying to buy a ticket it says "sold out".

How about joining a few of us on here next Tuesday at the 100 Club for what promises to be a great night out with The Billy Walton Band and Henrik Freischlader. Check them out on youtube, you won't be disappointed and it's only £10! An absolute steal.

Phil

Already have a ticket for Henrik Freishlader, am attending with my girlfriend, In fairness i only discovered him about 2 weeks ago thanks to this very forum, don't see why not, thanks. Try ringing Stargreen on 020 7734 8932 worth a go for Gary Clark Jr.

Sandi Thom, Madame Jo Jo's, Soho (honestly) 25 March

Hey Kenny, could you help indoctrinate and educate a Yankee, if you were to be so inclined to do and it pleases you?!  I am quite curious as to the discrete qualification comment of Sandi's performance in Soho at Madame Jo Jo's?  Why would it be questionable?  I do not understand.

Is that cinsidered some sort of a risky neighbohood?  Is it because entertainment in Soho is as sparse as meadows in the Sahara?  The venue is "rough" by reputation?!

Rocket, this is a good article on how Soho has changed over the years:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/th … 58222.html

When I was a teenager, my mum nearly had a fit when I started going to watch bands at the Marquee Club in Soho's Wardour Street. Soho, then, was popularly known as a red light district of London and notorious for it's strip clubs. But, as is always the case with these things, it never was just that. It was the centre for London's film industry and it has a long musical tradition. Not only the famous Marquee (now long gone) but Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club (still going strong) and many others.

I'll let Kenny fill you in on Madame Jo Jo's

From Wikipedia '...for much of the 20th century Soho had a reputation for sex shops as well as night life and film industry. Since the early 1980s, the area has undergone considerable transformation. It now is predominantly a fashionable district of upmarket restaurants and media offices, with only a small remnant of sex industry venues.'

So a venue with the name Madame Jo Jo's would probably bring to mind a brothel.

Sandi also related at a recent gig that in those days her neighbor was a notorious Punk Rocker (name withheld to protect the innocent) and that she makes Joe crazy when some old vids come on Palladia at home and she starts jumping up and down on the couch and screaming. She's a head banger at heart. big_smile

Re: The London Gig Guide

Gary Clark Jr will be supporting Eric Clapton's UK tour! I'm going to opening night at the Royal Albert Hall on the 17th May, what a bonus! very pleased with this turn of events! looks like i may be catching Gary Clark Jr 3 times this year. Hopefully he will be brought out to play a track with Clapton.

Re: The London Gig Guide

That's great for Gary, I just hope the Eric crowd "get" him. His music is very diverse. Sorry but Eric's live shows do nothing for me nowadays. In contrast Gary leaves me open mouthed.

No need to apologise. I personally think when you listen to live Eric Clapton recordings he has been at his best live the last 10-15 years in terms of playing, largely due to the quitting drinking i suppose. However his setlists do leave something to be desired, he should shake it up a bit more. That said he doesn't really excite me when he does his acoustic segment, otherwise i haven't been disappointed on any of the occasions I've seen him. He is God for a reason.

Same night as ZZ Top at Hammersmith, may have to reconsider though, although not sure how much of a pain it will be to get to Hampton Court Palace.
