Topic: Want to change the headstock or neck on my '79 LP?
This is probably gonna sound crazy or to some it might not so here goes....I own beautiful natural maple top 1979 LP Std that I've owned for over 20yrs and only cost me £390, but I've always disliked the headstock shape and i would really love to change it too a smaller 50s style headstock as I've measured the dimensions and it can reduced in size and reset the machineheads as it can has been done before....and here's where it gets even more crazy since I now own a beautiful R8 and having own a JBLP, I've come to love The 50s LP fat necks, as I'm wondering what would I expect to pay for a 50s neck plus the labour to undertake such a job? Sorry I can't post any pics as I'm not sure how it's done! This LP is a real special fantastic sounding guitar that has a great vibe about too and that I have thought many years about having done, would love too hear your views (pros & cons ) or maybe has anyone else done or thought about something similar? Given The fact I live in Ireland the obvious choice would be Kim from HM, (but sadly thats not possible) I seen the photos of Rons #238 I think that really gave me the idea that it can be done.....or am I just being daft
