Unlike many others I like it when the speaker colours the amp's tone a little. The BM75s are my favourite so far.
I never played through an EV12L. I'll get a chance to try two more cabs belonging to friends in a couple of days. Soldano 4x12 (EV12L) and a Diezel with V30s.

UPDATE: I spoke to Alan at Carol Ann amps, and he suggested that I get a 2x12 cab with Celestion T75's in them, which I have just ordered from a local Aussie cab builder.

Next question - open back or closed back?  Which do other members here prefer for a 2x12, given that I will be looking for a 70's/80s rock and blues tone?

I have a 2X12 from Mojo Tone that has a 3 piece back so you have the option of taking center panel off and using as an open back cabinet. What about that style cabinet for your New amp?

+1  My Stone Age cabinet is this way as well.

Seth & wharris - GREAT idea... I've asked the builder to make the cab configurable for open/closed back and he readily agreed.  This way I can try best of both worlds as the situation demands... Thanks!

Looks like the amp won't be here until mid January (same with the hand built cab), so no Christmas present for me! smile  Have to be patient... cool
