Topic: Ryan McGarvey's new album, Redefined

I am writing to see if anyone can help me get a copy of Mr. McGarvey's new album.  The album, Redefined, has been "available" in the US since June 2012, but it can not be purchased commercially, except at one of his shows.  Unfortunately, his shows seem to be somewhat infrequent in the US and he currently has no scheduled shows anywhere close to where I live.  I tried to e-mail him directly to see if I could by a copy from him (or whoever reads his e-mails), but I got no response back.  I understand that he has had difficulty finding a distributor for the album, but I simply find this very hard to believe.  I am no expert on music contracts or legal issues regarding distribution of albums, but to have an album that has been "out" for 5-6 months and still not readily available for widespread purchase just seems to be a bit incredible to me.  Considering how well his first album did thru Cd Baby, I am stumped as to why this new disk (which has gotten lots a very positive reviews) is still largely sitting around boxed up in someone's basement.  I'm not sure if he has a manager or not, but if he does, he probably needs to look into finding a new one...  But I digress, if anyone out there has a copy that they would be willing to sell, please let me know.  Better yet, if any one knows of a way to buy the disk (outside of attending one of his shows), then please let me know.  And please, do not tell me that the album will be for sale on-line "soon",  because Mr. McGarvey's own website has been carrying this message for the past 3-4 months.  Thanks for any help that can be provided...

Re: Ryan McGarvey's new album, Redefined

The release of this cd was announced months prior to June. I looked forward to the release. The long months with lack of progress in making it available has somewhat soured me on the whole cd.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: Ryan McGarvey's new album, Redefined

Can't believe, I've had this album for almost a year, thanks to good friend in Germany, and (spoiler alert!!!) it is a fire-cracker of an album; Ryan has developed almost beyond recognition since Forward In Reverse.

Either he needs to look into getting management organised or he's fated only to have bad luck if he has any luck at all. Way too good an artsit to fall be the wayside for the want of getting a CD distributed.

Good management, promotors, agents etc in the USA are extremely difficult to get sorted. Distribution of a CD should be relativley straight forward though.

Re: Ryan McGarvey's new album, Redefined

Thanks for the early responses.  If only I had a good friend in Germany, too....  I have been able to locate 7 of the songs (I think there are 11 on the album) over the internet.  Several can be heard on BluesMoose radio podcasts, but the sound quality is not the greatest (alot of interference in the background).  To be honest, I'm really surprised that no one has uploaded the disk to avaxhome or some other site.  I'm afraid if Mr. McGarvey does not get the disk out soon, then interest from his fanbase will certainly be much less than it might have been otherwise.  It does appear to be an excellent album; I just wish I could obtain a copy.  Apparently he was voted as one of the top acts in Albuquerque this yr, which is a fine honor, but he does need to broaden his appeal if he is going to be successful like Mr. Bonamassa and others.  I guess I'll make one more appeal to his e-mail address and keep my fingers crossed.  Thanks again....

Re: Ryan McGarvey's new album, Redefined

Dear Gunter:
Thanks so much for your offer.  I think I found out how to get a brand new copy of Ryan's album today.  And yes, I will be buying it legally.  I will know for sure in the next day or so.  Once I have had a chance to verify the availability of the Redefined album, I will come back to this site and share what I know.  For now, though, I have been asked to wait before I say anything else.  Hope to be back soon with good news...
