Topic: Greetings from the Deep South
I have been lurking here for a couple of years and am finally joining the discussion since my husband just got my picture of Joe and I posted for my avatar.
I am a classically trained musician who had always played with symphonies and was never a fan of the blues like my husband, until a fateful afternoon in the French Quarter in New Orleans 2005. The bar was almost empty on a hot August afternoon and there was a 3 piece blues band playing their hearts out.... all of a sudden I got it.
Then, we both found Joe in all the usual ways...Pandora, Palladia and then proceeded to purchase everything. I am actually the more obsessed fan and like Sally1233, I am old enough to be Joe's mother.
We have had the pleasure of seeing Joe in 2010 in Pensacola and then drove 7 hours to see him in Nashville 2012. My picture is from the Nashville show where we were able to sneak into the theater just after the sound check, and just watch Joe talk with the guy from the Kentucky Headhunters who was a guest that night. Someone finally saw us and ushered us out and asked how we got in......the door was unlocked we said. Two old people weren't much of a threat and we were thrilled for the opportunity. We even got to brag at the tasting room at the Jackalope brewery before the concert and all the 20 somethings thought we were cool, but had never heard of Joe! We had hoped to see him in Jacksonville in Dec. but hubby is having knee surgery a few days before.
So, that's my story and one day I'd love to teach Joe that beer can be just as interesting a beverage as the wines he loves!
Cheers,
Sharon
