Topic: The Scottish Blues Compilation Series: Jock's Juke Joint

Hi folks
Well it's been a long time since I've posted here and there's a reason for that, I've been working on an album!  Not my own album of course as many of you will know, I can't play! However I've been working with Nick and Lewis Hamilton from the band Lewis Hamilton & The Boogie Brothers on a compilation of Scottish Blues artists.
It's been a few years that I've been interested in the blues, yet in the last few years I've taken far much more attention of the acts playing and I beleive there's some great young talent of all ages. While Alan Nimmo with the Nimmo Brothers and latterly King King have become quite well known in the UK and beyond (King King winning two British Blues Awards today), behind them there are many other really good acts.

Based on the theme of a fictitious Scottish Juke Joint, we've called the album Jock's Juke Joint. We've got 17 acts to contribute original tracks ranging from solo acoustic blues to hard hitting blues rock. The CD includes artists from the borders to Aberdeen, and includes well known bands(within Scotland) such as Gerry Jablonski & The Electric Band and Lewis Hamilton & The Boogie Brothers to a couple of English based acts with prominent Scottish members, Albany Down and Bare Bones Boogie Band.

The CD will be on sale from all the included artists in a couple of weeks, and for more information, please look at our facebooke page www.facebook.com/jocksjukejoint. Please give us a like and feel free to ask for more information. A press release will be issued to all interested parties within the next week. smile

Cheers

Duncan

I'm already well aware of this. Well done Duncan, Lewis and Nick. I hope it's a big success and helps promote the various artists that appear on the CD.

Will it be available at The Nimmo Brothers gig at Kinross?

Keep us posted Duncan and put here any samples you may get.  It sounds like you are having a lot of fun with this smile

This is a great things for Scottish Blues.  These compilation CD's are wonderful at promoting your local talent.  And a compilation is really a Juke Joint.  Have fun seeing all these bands, because I know you have been highly involved in keeping the music and the clubs alive.

You know us Scottish Folds Cats have a blues song out.  It's called, "Stop you Dirty Dog, Give me back my Ears."

Great going Duncan - sounds like a labour of love.

Something I'll have to be sure to ask Lewis Hamilton for when he's down this way.

Woops, I forgot to add the link to the sound clips above. We were very happy when Paul Jones played the opening track of the CD on his radio show on BBC Radio 2 on Monday night. Catch the repeat session if you wish to hear it, which also featured an interview with Sandi Thom.
If you wish a copy of the CD, drop me an email. smile

Re: The Scottish Blues Compilation Series: Jock's Juke Joint

Made sure I got my copy from Lewis & Nick on Saturday night. Played it on the way home and most Sunday afternoon. Congratulations Duncan & team; super showcase album; such a broad range of styles and depth of playing makes it hard to pick out a favourite track.

Looking forward to the following volumes.
