Re: vintage SG jr.

Gorgeous!!!!  you scored well.  Thats got a 64 cavity too which is less prone to crack than the large cavity they changed to in 65,  From what i can see you got an early 65.  It could be a  64 which is the HOLY GRAIL of SG Juniors.   Its got 64 all over it IMO.

Re: vintage SG jr.

I've heard that the Gibson serial system is kind of difficult to descipher... If I email them should they be able to tell me exactly what year?

Block inlay Gibson ES-335, 50th anniversary American Strat, '61 RI White SG, '62 RI Relic Strat, Replica Korina Flying V, Gold Tone Paul Beard Resonator,  '58 Les Paul RI, American Highway 1 Fender Strat, Breedlove Acoustic, Stonetree Joe Bonamassa Custom, HIWATT Lead 100R, Reeves Custom 30.

Re: vintage SG jr.

The pots will give you the correct year...if they are the original ones....yep they had a screwed up serial number system for sure back then

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: vintage SG jr.

The serial #s were a mess in the mid 60s as airportdon mentioned.  They used the exact same numbers in multiple years.   If you google it, you will find conficting serial # data depending on where you look.

Re: vintage SG jr.

The seller says that it's all original, so we shall see. She should get here tomorrow!

Re: vintage SG jr.

This is true!  My friend and I bought some pedals last week (ProCo Rat and a Marshall Guv'nor) and the seller had no idea what the year they were.  It was suggested to us to look at the pots you skipped the first 3 numbers and any letter  that were in the stamp and use to 2 center numbers.  For our Rat we got an 87' which turns out to be a really good vintage rat year.  Don't have the Guv'nor in yet to check.
