Topic: Which Album.....?

The President of my company is a music fan.  Kind of an introverted personality.

Which album would you recommend to a person who knows nothing about JB?

My fav is SILT.  But thats not a true representation of JB.

I would go with You and Me or Had To Cry Today

Im also going to give him the Appleton, WI 7-11-06 or Germany 4-18-06 show because they sound the best.

Re: Which Album.....?

Hey John,
Yep those 2 shows do sound fantastic. My favorite JB album to date is You and Me. Just my 2 cents.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Which Album.....?

Thanks Jeff!  I think you are right

Re: Which Album.....?

Depends on the kind of music he likes.  Blues Deluxe is always a great one to turn folks on too though...

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: Which Album.....?

I thought about this for a while. I like them all, but as far as CD's go, I'd go with Blues Deluxe, ANDY Live or You & Me.
That said, if I was giving someone their first taste of Joe, it would be the Rockpalast DVD. That one gives a great mix of Joe's talent.

Re: Which Album.....?

go with "YOU AND ME" and "BLUES DELUXE"  you and me is his most complete album! blues deluxe has some great all around music, his voice is great! and some mean!!!!! guitar solos!!

yeah if I could give a DVD that would be a given.  But since I can only go audio.......

I think Im going to go with You and Me.  Its got a good range of stuff and the production is great.

Re: Which Album.....?

The winner.......................

You and Me

I dont know what he likes.  All I know is he has 14,000 songs on his Ipod.  So I went with the strongest and most recent.  I feel its the ebst product out there for now

As mentioned before Im giving him a live ablum so I needed a studio to go with it

Re: Which Album.....?

Had To Cry Today I still say is his most complete album. Really cool originals (The River, When She Dances, Around The Bend, When The Sun Goes Down), great, really cool covers (Never Make Your Move Too Soon, Reconsider Baby) and some really cool instrumentals that push the boundaries of what we would think a blues artist would do (Revenge Of The Ten Gallon Hat, Faux Mantini). I still say it's Joe's best album. Of course, Sloe Gin might change my opinion drastically.

I've been listening to HTCT a lot lately. It's always been one of my favorites, but I like it more than ever. "Travelin'" South", "Reconsider Baby", "Around The Bend", "Had To Cry Today", "The River", man it don't get much better than that!

Re: Which Album.....?

The CD or DVD I would recommend to a person who knows nothing about Joe Bonamassa is the one they do not have, which means any one can work.  Just as examples, "A New Day Yesterday" would be a good one to start with if you think the person is EXTREMELY likely to take the bait & hook immediately, then of course they need to follow up in exact order, with the jump to "A New Day Yesterday Live" DVD and "So, It's Like That" to follow and so on...Someone who needs / can appreciate a blitz of pure Joe talent needs "So, It’s Like That" introductory CD.  Someone who appreciates blues, known in advance, can get the advanced graduate "pet"degree & gravitates immediately to "Blues Deluxe" and feels their own way from there.  Slide guitar aficionados also get that recommendation.  Those who appreciate the  "concept" album and a CD as an artistic portfolio, i.e. those who dwell on a group or artist's certain CD album being top rate and continually bring it up in musically oriented conversation or play in neo-constant personal rotation of their music player device(s) should be recommended "Had To Cry Today" to start, with a quick chaser of "A New Day Yesterday Live" (specifically CD but can be DVD, or CD then DVD in order for effect).  If you think they are up for a big buck(s) shot of Joe, I would recommend "Had To Cry Today", "Rockpalast" DVD, plus "You & Me", all 3 together.!!!  I kinda like this last one a lot because it is very up to date, and preceding catalog and upcoming new release of "Sloe Gin" can fit in any time one might desire, which could make for some "pleasant surprise(s)" of how there is such consistent, well, I need a more decorative word from someone else to insert, but I'll use quality-consistent quality (talent, song repertoire, production, intrigue, etc.)!  Plus a 3 fer puts a bunch of jingly money in Joe's pocket, much better than dirt!!!

Rock On & pick ax their brain first (read mine for information, not kill) and then pick a winner (Superfectas of all CD /DVD product combined pay HUGE) with Faith,

I'd have to agree. If somebody asked me which album IS Joe, it would have to be the one coming out this month. The older albums are not a true representation of Joe anymore - especially SILT. Hell, Walk in My Shadow from ANDY isn't even the same anymore. I would say Blues Deluxe was the turning point. That IS Joe now.
