The CD or DVD I would recommend to a person who knows nothing about Joe Bonamassa is the one they do not have, which means any one can work. Just as examples, "A New Day Yesterday" would be a good one to start with if you think the person is EXTREMELY likely to take the bait & hook immediately, then of course they need to follow up in exact order, with the jump to "A New Day Yesterday Live" DVD and "So, It's Like That" to follow and so on...Someone who needs / can appreciate a blitz of pure Joe talent needs "So, It’s Like That" introductory CD. Someone who appreciates blues, known in advance, can get the advanced graduate "pet"degree & gravitates immediately to "Blues Deluxe" and feels their own way from there. Slide guitar aficionados also get that recommendation. Those who appreciate the "concept" album and a CD as an artistic portfolio, i.e. those who dwell on a group or artist's certain CD album being top rate and continually bring it up in musically oriented conversation or play in neo-constant personal rotation of their music player device(s) should be recommended "Had To Cry Today" to start, with a quick chaser of "A New Day Yesterday Live" (specifically CD but can be DVD, or CD then DVD in order for effect). If you think they are up for a big buck(s) shot of Joe, I would recommend "Had To Cry Today", "Rockpalast" DVD, plus "You & Me", all 3 together.!!! I kinda like this last one a lot because it is very up to date, and preceding catalog and upcoming new release of "Sloe Gin" can fit in any time one might desire, which could make for some "pleasant surprise(s)" of how there is such consistent, well, I need a more decorative word from someone else to insert, but I'll use quality-consistent quality (talent, song repertoire, production, intrigue, etc.)! Plus a 3 fer puts a bunch of jingly money in Joe's pocket, much better than dirt!!!
