I really do like the YJM a lot and the more I play the more it amazes me. First, all Plexi amps are loud, really really loud. I do like the EPA because it reduces the power before it reaches the tubes so there is less stress on them compared to a standard attenuator which reduces power after the tubes have been lit up. Sadly all types of attenuators effect tone and so it is something we need to just live with. The effects loop is a great addition and I like the reverb. I'm not a fan of the boost so I use my own pedals but the noise gate is top notch.
For the most part I have everything dialed in on the back controls and rarely adjust them unless I am moving from 50watts to 100 or dialing in the epa to adjust for conditions. Marshall used the big box for this head so if you are using a slant cabinet be careful for there is no room for error. Marshall does recommend using the "B" cabinet.
All in all it is a great amp and a real head-turner when you bump it to 100 watts for a couple of bars...sound guys and lead singers hate me. And I really love playing my Tele's through the YJM, they almost sound like different guitars.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
