Topic: the blues and the crossroads

First of all, I'm not sure if I should post this on general topics or under off topics so let it be moved as you see fit. This is not strictly Bonamassa related but I can imagine any blues guy whether on a tour bus or or not to find it fascinating so I thought I'd share it here.

Radio Lab, my favorite radio show, did a short story on the story of the Crossroads as it's known in the world of blues. It's an intriguing listen:

In this short, we go looking for the devil, and find ourselves tangled in a web of details surrounding one of the most haunting figures in music--a legendary guitarist whose shadowy life spawned a legend so powerful, it's still being repeated...even by fans who don't believe a word of it.

Seems the right place for it.
Fascinating podcast. Give a listen folks, and the promo at the beginning isn't too long. We're all used to PBS pleas.

Re: the blues and the crossroads

I've been listening to Radiolab and This American life for a few years now...although I prefer TAL, I like RL a lot.
I had heard this already, but went back and listened again because I was a bit distracted when I heard it the first time.

Remember the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou?...when Tommy Johnson joined the band after saying he sold his soul to the devil?

Mythology.  Love it.  I have a lyric that says on the turnaround, "Dance with the devil, He don;t change ....he changes you."
I stole it from somebody.

I went down to the crossroads
where the sounds are grand.

Saw a tall drink o' water
with a four string in his hand.

I said hey, big fella
where do you make your stand?

I brangit from da bottoms
in any ol' blues band!

Mythology you say? I love it too. I call that The Legend of the Funky Doctor of Love. LOL!!!
