Re: Springfield Birthday Show

You won't believe it... but, as God is my witness! - I was the guy that yelled "Show-off!"

It was about one fourth of the way through his acoustic solo.  But I can't take credit for originality as I'd heard of that happening at another show - and Joe flipped him and grinned.

So I was just kinda helping out the show by playing that role for him!!!

Just making the show memorable - and hope Joe knew that was shouted out with love! wink

I was there and heard your comment. I wasnt sure if Joe was ticked off or kidding.  Most likely he was kidding.

Didn't you see his big grin?  Joe does love hamming it up just a little (example #1 is his exchange with Tal) - and his comeback was so quick that the crowd roared with laughter - so I'm confident all is well.

Re: Springfield Birthday Show

I personally, not speaking for Joe, don't recommend shouting out "show off" or anything really, during Woke Up Dreaming.  Nor screeching!  It distracts, in my opinion.  Not just Joe, in my opinion, but audience members as well.  Some people cannot help themselves, I understand that, I understand exhuberance believe me, it does add some life and color to a show, but the master is at work, so I sit in rapt attention to every note (to the extent that I can keep up with every note).  Calling Joe Bonamassa a show off is certainly not along the lines of Jerry Lee Lewis or Jimi Hendrix literally torching their instruments now, is it?! HE is on fire!!!  I do believe an entire audience clapping the rhythmic intro buildup is not only appropriate, but not a distraction as it is interactive and (hopefully) on time and augments the music well for it's brief duration.  Anyways, do what you feel, it is not a major crime or anything.
