None of the seven Wolfgangs in the shops that I tried we correct in this way.
I'd honestly like to see and play one of these guitars...surely the tension on the strings pulling it down must be massive, because bending a G string off the board is quite a stretch...and I thought there might be some lift?

See setup section of owners manual http://support.evhgear.com/manuals/EVH_ … Manual.pdf

• Set the spring tension just tight enough for the bridge to sit flat on the body when the guitar is
tuned to pitch.
• Then bend the high E and the B as far as you physically can and adjust the spring tension so
the bridge does not raise up off the body while you do so.

Never saw that...
Thanks.
Too late now haha..

Re: EVH Wolfgang - Anybody Try One?

i have the peavey wolfgang usa model in flame red and it's a beast.....it's not as versatile as a les paul or a strat but for straight ahead rock it shines......plays and sounds great.

and for me i never had any issues with tone or the floyd rose.....the rose sits on the body and does not float so there is plenty of vibration going thru the body.

Re: EVH Wolfgang - Anybody Try One?

And there ya go. If it is set up correctly it will not come off. In fact it is supposes to rest on the body so it WILL create awesome sustain, harmonics, and tone. Ah how we don't like to read manuals or instructions. Tone suckers? NOT.
I purchased a new USA Stealth Black late last year, EVH 5150iii 50watt, 2x12 cab, and an array of pedals no distortion pedal needed) and OMG this set up is on FIRE !
The guitar plays like a dream and the tone. Oh yea.

I hated it so much I bought a new Wolfgang USA Hart Tail in Vintage white. This one has a maple neck. The HT does seem to be more organic and plays very clean.

I have a Strat I put the YJM Seymour Duncan PU in a while ago but I bet I have played it maybe 6 times in 6 months.

Everyone has different tastes. I love my two mistresses! !

I've never had issues with them, setting them up or even getting them set after taking all the strings off the guitar. I guess I just have "the touch"?! Their soul purpose for some though is fake a guitar solo.. or to cover up wrong notes by dive bombing. -or both.

Yup

Re: EVH Wolfgang - Anybody Try One?

Each to their own I guess as I love floyd rose trems and EVH d-tuna's for rock. I've used them on and off for over 25 years. I wouldn't get through either set at our live shows in tune without my Floyds.

I always add a small wood block to help with sustain and to prevent pulling up on the trem as I like a higher action than many rock players.

I was a huge fan of the old Peavey Wolfgang studios but I'm not sold on the new EVH ones. However I played most of a one hour festival set last week with one of the cheaper EVH striped series and that sounded fantastic.

Though that would be helped in part their brilliant sound guy.

Re: EVH Wolfgang - Anybody Try One?

My son has one that he loves.  It plays and sounds great.

As his official 'guitar tech', I must admit I HATE working on his Floyd Rose trems.  Though to be fair, the one on his Wolfgang works well as advertised.  He has a cheaper LTD Kirk Hammet sig guitar with a cheaper Floyd, and that proved to be a constant PITA.  We replaced it with a more expensive model of Floyd Rose trem recently and it seems to work better.  I think it comes down to the overall quality of the parts.

Then again, the Wolfgang trem is not floating, which perhaps leads to better stability and behaviour.  I do salute the D-Tuna attachment though.  Ingenious, and when set up correctly, provides flawless and instant drop tuning.  We installed an official EVH D-Tuna on his LTD guitar when we did the upgrade too.

Re: EVH Wolfgang - Anybody Try One?

- I share your pain Devan, - my son broke a string in band practice on his Fender HMT with Floyd Rose, - passed it to me to change, two parents and much swearing later we worked out that it was quicker to drive home and get another guitar! - It’s easy to find a metric allen key but never an imperial one when you need it....We sold that guitar a short while after.

Apparently Ibanez have improved on a few of the FR features with their zero point system, or is Edge or even Trem setter (who invents this words??).

As for EVH guitars, - just how many manufacturers can one man sign endorsements with? You might think that he falls out with people? smile
