Re: My First Meet & Greet...and My Epic Fail!
Coach trust me, there will be other times for you! However, the important thing is, you have now Met The Man and he never forgets a face or name!

Man what a bummer!! Coach, when is your next Joe show?
Bill
I don't peruse through this section enough it seems....
Thank you Coach for your honesty in letting us all have a laugh at ourselves. Yes I said at ourselves, because we've all done it!
Got to hand it to you for sharing the story Coach, and I agree on the shared perspectives in the thread, and your own.
Stories like yours will last a lifetime, even beyond, and you're bound to be able to correct for your doofosity.
Your story and your use of that mildly self deprecating term almost had me doing a spit take all over my laptop's screen.
Thanks for the chuckle.
My regret is that in the early days, I let friends talk me out of not waiting to talk to Joe after a show, back when he could just come out front at the smaller bar type venues.
I did think Joe's expression was one of mild bemusement in the picture of you...and that tie rocks!
Well, it's been a week, my bruised ego has (mostly) recovered, so I thought I'd add a brief postscript...
My students didn't give me quite so hard a time as I had expected, but they did give me some grief. The suggestion that I double down on the ginkgo biloba next time stung a little bit...
One of the kids suggested that perhaps I should consider using a Sticky Note when the next opportunity comes along:

I had hoped that opportunity would be today in Des Moines, but the starting time of the Meet & Greet got moved up a bit, and there's no way I could get there in time. I wound up giving my M&G passes to a friend of Patty's, which makes me feel a little less bummed about having to miss it myself...
Here's a pic of the other Joe tie I had made. Original plan was to wear this one to the Des Moines M&G and bring "Paula" (my Epi JBLP) to get her signed. That will have to wait, now, but I will be wearing this tie to the concert tonight nonetheless:

You don't get a really good look at "India" in the pic of me and Joe, so here's a better shot of her:

Here, she's sitting in my comfy chair at school:

Here's, she's admiring the pic of me and Joe (she considers it a pic of HER and Joe!):

And, finally, a closeup of the pic, framed, on my wall:

Looking forward to tonight's show, and to maybe meeting some fellow forum denizens in person...
BAH! Bring the guitar! Why you make a double play day on the fool... It's "everybody plays the fool, sometime", not two times!
Wow Coach! I do hope you packed the guitar in case an opportunity presents itself after the show!
I forgot to ask for a picture in Louisville. Not a huge deal But I know that initial sinking feeling when you make the realization and it's too late. And I do have a great one taken at my first Meet & Greet in Vegas. I'm not there for me, I'm there to say thank you and show my appreciation for all that Joe, the band and everyone else it takes to keep the tours going, and newcds & dvds coming out.
You are an absolute corker, Coach!
Thanks for starting my day with a belly laugh. The post-it is priceless. You ought to incorporate it, when you get your next opportunity. Joe would appreciate, and probably completely get it. Even if all you did was hand him "India", with that post-it affixed.
Hey Coach if its already been told i missed it. I'd love to know how you managed to get those cool good looking ties made!
I had them made in anticipation of the Omaha/Des Moines M&Gs. Plan was to wear the tie that featured him playing the guitar I'd be asking him to autograph each time (well, in the case of the goldtop, mine is an Epi, of course). As the poet Robbie Burns observed, "The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, Gang aft agley..." And "agley" is certainly where my "schemes" wound up this time...
If someone had told me I'd have as many Joe-autographed guitars as Albert Pujols had home runs this April, I'd have been in heaven! As it turned out, Albert and I tied...and it was somewhere a little south of heaven...
To have the ties made (and they can do similar things with other items they offer), I started here: http://www.zazzle.com/ties
I decided on ties because I knew I'd have to leave straight from work, with no time to change, and because the JB Store doesn't offer anything like them. I figured it would be okay because each one is a one-off, and I'm not trying to sell them or anything...
Cool Coach! I might even be caught dead in one!!!
There are quite a few unique, one offs not for sale or resale: wardrobe items, crafts, video creations, decorations, decals, tattoos, jewelry, etc. I may open a museum (items on temporary loan only) one day! That gives me an idea for the interim... To be continued...
Rock ON & Keep the Faith,
Rocket
Not that you look so old Coach, but you resemble my old man in his younger teacher (retired) days...

Just saw this...and a museum would be a splendid idea. You can't have my Joe ties until I croak, though...
