Someone help me out here, when the discussion about where the museum was going to be, I thought it came down to San Francisco and Cleveland. Why was Cleveland selected, I just cant remember.

Shred I remember a lot of buzz around the Bay Area and on KFOG back when they were trying to figure out where to put it. As I recall SF lobbied loud and hard to get it, but the nod went to Cleveland. You might try e-mailing the Chronicle and see if they have anything in their archives. I'm surprised the City hasn't built something like Paul Allen's Music Experince up in Seattle, but then again we have the Fillmore which is a museum/shrine to rock history.

By the way, the Fillmore and the Fillmore West were not one and the same. The Fillmore was the original and then Graham moved to a larger location, the old Carousel Ballroom, and named it Fillmore West. Later on the original Fillmore was expanded and re-opened only to close due to structural problems due to the '89 quake. After retro-fitting it re-opened again as it remains today. OK kids SF rock history 101 is dismissed for the evening.
