Topic: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Hi-

I am heading down this morning to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with my JB T-Shirt on.  I hope to get some people to notice the shirt and ask about Joe.  I was at the HOB in Cleveland on Wednesday and two of employees talked with me for about 45 minutes about Joe and the Blues.  They said they can't wait to see Joe back at the venue and hope to get tickets this time to see him.  They both worked that night and had to watched Joe on the TV set while they were working.

Hi-

I just got back from the Hall of Fame and I had a group of teenage boys come up to me to look closely at my shirt.  They all heard of Joe, but don't have any of his CD's.  I wrote done the website address for them to check out and I told them to get some CD's in the near future.  By the way, the place was awesome to be at on this fine afternoon.

Afternoon yall,

Someone help me out here, when the discussion about where the museum was going to be, I thought it came down to San Francisco and Cleveland. Why was Cleveland selected, I just cant remember.

Thanks Dean, quite interesting, I'm guessing the "Sex Pistols" and " Dave Clark Five " wont be visiting the place real soon. I got it wrong, it was Memphis not S.F.

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

I will be going there within the next year.  One thing that stinks is they don't allow camera in there.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

I'm lucky enough to work 1 block away.  Once a week at lunch, we pop over and cruise through the gift shop for CD's.  They have a great exhibit on the Doors right now!  If you haven't been, you need to take a day and spend it there.
We've seen the Hendrix and the John Lennon exhibit .  Amazing stuff.

Yeah Nic, that does stink but it is well worth the visit.  If anybody likes music then they will love the HOF.  A must see place.

Music is good for the Soul...

Shred I remember a lot of buzz around the Bay Area and on KFOG back when they were trying to figure out where to put it. As I recall SF lobbied loud and hard to get it, but the nod went to Cleveland. You might try e-mailing the Chronicle and see if they have anything in their archives. I'm surprised the City hasn't built something like Paul Allen's Music Experince up in Seattle, but then again we have the Fillmore which is a museum/shrine to rock history.

By the way, the Fillmore and the Fillmore West were not one and the same. The Fillmore was the original and then Graham moved to a larger location, the old Carousel Ballroom, and named it Fillmore West. Later on the original Fillmore was expanded and re-opened only to close due to structural problems due to the '89 quake. After retro-fitting it re-opened again as it remains today. OK kids SF rock history 101 is dismissed for the evening.

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

I can't find anything in writing, but I think it had something to do with Alan Freed(sp), the radio host who was the first "rock and roll" playing DJ. This could also be a hallucination flashback so don't put any money on it!   Cathy

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Alan Freed was the disc Jockey that coined the phrase Rock and Roll at radio station WJW in Cleveland in 1951. He had a show on called the "Moon Dog House Rock and Roll Party" until he left there in 1954. There is a historical marker in Ohio that credits him with using the term on the radio way back then.

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Alan Freed did coin the term Rock'n'Roll and lives on in infamy because of it, however if you polled people in Cleveland you would probably find more people who know who Ghoulardi is than those who've heard of Alan Freed. Turn blue you KNIF!!!!
