Topic: James Gang Revisited & Great 70's Albums

Been listening to a lot of  classic rock (circa '70 to '79) lately and tripped over James Gang's Thirds this morning.  It would be the band's last album with Joe Walsh and some said their weakest.  I would have to disagree strongly with that assessment.  Thirds a very interesting effort with a nice mixture of acoustic, blues, rock, funk and country.  "Walk Away" sounds like "Funk 49" part 2, "Midnight Man" an early Eagles rocker and then you get something off the wall like "Yadig?"  with its jazzy piano and tasty guitar solo by Walsh.  Pretty good stuff and an overlooked gem.
Others I've been listen to from the period are Steely Dan's Aja and don't gasp, but Stephen Bishop's Bish from 1978.

All favs of mine that have needed listening too. Gotta start digging in the back catalog! Sometimes one forgets how good that music was.

If Joe Walsh is involved, it works for me.

Trifecta here!!

Also, last week I did a search on the forum to see if there was a Joe Walsh thread and there wasn't but I found this started by Stu.

I posted this 2 places here, but just in case you didn't see it, I think its classic Joe Walsh with some added humor.  Joe's new release Analog Man.  http://www.joewalsh.com/

If a thread ever starts about guitar faces, Joe Walsh would certainly top the list! lol

Always thought Joe was spending too much time with The Eagles and a check of his website shows some upcoming gigs, 3 in South Africa, Dubai, Vegas, and 2 in Ga. Hopefully more will be added, especially in NorCal.

Jdawg,
I saw the Eagles tour last time around, BUT 100% agree, would love to see Joe Walsh outside the Eagles.

Like I said, I hope he expands that tour through the U.S. I just caught a bio show on Klaus Voorman on the Smithsonian Channel and Joe pops up in an LA studio scene playin' Short People w/Klaus & other studio guys. he shares a few memories of Klaus as well. My favorite album of Joe's is So What, favorite track, County Fair. Much better when it's a Joe Walsh project w/ The Eagles singin' harmonies.
