Topic: "You & Me"

Joe,

First, I want to thank you for all the enjoyment you have given me through your music.

I saw you in Decatur, Il. last year and was hoping you'd make a return visit this year....not to be.

I just purchased your lastest CD, and I must say in all honesty...."IT IS GREAT"!!!!!
In fact, I think I might like it the best....only listened to it about 4 times so far.....gotta give it a fair shake. The best place for me to listen to any music, is in my car. I can turn it up as loud as I want to and nobody "bitches"....at least if they do I can't hear-em.

I just turned 60 and you are becoming one of my favorites to listen too. This weekend, my wife & I are going to see Dickey Betts & Great Sourthern. He (ABB)has been at the top of my music list since I came home from Nam (1968). I was kind of in a music slump, until I heard you on the radio, a couple of years ago. Since then I've purchased everything you've done....I think.

Anyway, all my best to you and your band. I look forward to seeing you in the future. Congratulations on your recent award. I'm sure there will be many more in your future.

Thank you....from the bottom of my music heart!

Ps......keep the DVD's coming!!!!

Re: "You & Me"

Wow. jsmick...you've got about 10 years on me, but it sounds like we've got similar stories and taste in music. I've always been a huge Allman Bros. fan. My wife accused me of being stuck in the 60's (although I told her it was the 70's too). Something just "clicked" the first time I heard Joe. Now she tells me I'm stuck in "Joe mode", although she's become a big fan too.

i finally picked it up at his concert tonight at the trouser mouse in blue springs, mo. and he was nice enough to autograph it smile

a very talented young man!

Re: "You & Me"

Just got home from the Three Rivers Arts Festival here in Pittsburgh PA where Government Mule played a free concert in Point State Park.Gotta say my hats off to Warren Haynes.Awesome guitarist.Unbeliveably i have never seen one of my all time fave's; the Allman Bros. Band. They are coming with Tom Petty in a couple of months but it is on a Wed. night, but lord knows my golf league has priority over anything,so no go again.Awesome show tonight though. Saved the best for last...Soul Shine..what a great tune. The whole band jammed well all night long.A little Zeppelin & a little P.M.& Wings covers thrown in there as well. Bought a CD there, I cant wait to hear.It is titled Wintertime Blues featuring Govt.Mule,Edwin McCain,Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks Band.Dont see this being anything but excellent !!! If you like jam bands,G.M. is for you.

Tell me about the car i saw parked outside your door ? Tell me what you left me waiting two or three hours for ? Tell me why when the phone rings, baby, your up and across the floor ? Please dont keep me wondering no more.....

Re: "You & Me"

So Many Roads **SHOULD** be in the set list for years to come.  For me, it's one of the stand out tracks on the album.

So Joe, please keep it in the set!

Re: "You & Me"

I agree, "So Many Roads" is an instant classic.  Great vocals and bluesy, haunting guitar solos really makes this an amazing song.  Can't wait to see it peformed live...

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: "You & Me"

Django is really starting to grow on me the more i play it.If Django Reinhardt were still around today i'm sure he'd be amazed by Joe's virtuosity

Re: "You & Me"

Tea for One is a brilliant song as well. Can someone tell me what guitar Joe is playing on this track. It sounds great.

Re: "You & Me"

Hi, Phil B.  I heard that it was a '59 Les Paul reissue that he played on Tea for One.

Django is one of my favorites. Very cool melody. For me, one of the best moments on the whole album is when the drums kick in on that tune. Sends a chill up my spine every time. I'd love to hear Django on the setlist.

Re: "You & Me"

Yeah....Django is definitely one of my favorites too. I did a search for Django Reinhardt to find out a bit more about him. I found it a bit ironic that he has an album (or was it a song) named "Tea for Two". It just struck me as very coincidental, what with "Tea for One" on Joe's cd.

I just went back and checked. Django Reinhardt recorded the album "Tea for Two" in Paris in 1937.

Re: "You & Me"

Why is it called Django when it sounds like Jeff Beck?

Blues ain't nothin' but a good woman gone bad.

Re: "You & Me"

My wife and I accidentally was Joe four years ago in Houston, and took me all of 15 seconds to be hooked forever. Since then, I've seen some forty plus show’s, many on back to back nights. You will never find a nicer musician, more down to earth person, and boy can he wail! Enjoy the new CD!
