28 February 2012 - Beth Hart at Zeche Bochum

Thought I was prepared - but I wasn’t. Beth & Band took it to another limit. WOW cool cool cool
The venue delivered perfect sound and lightning, the audience was just the way an audience has to be.
And Beth & Band were simply spellbinding. All in all perfect conditions and so much more.

I don’t get the setlist together completely. It was a mixture of some older songs, 2-3 unknown songs, some from My California and some of the last album Don’t explain:

Good as it gets
Well Well
Chocolate Jesus
Your Heart is as black as night
Leave the light on
My California
Stinky feet  (What an introduction, poor husband, haha)
Sick
Lifts you up
I’ll take care of you
....

Perfect mixture of songs.
Beth & Band rocked the house down. Air was filled with pure energy. Beth’ voice is to fall on your knees for.
But also her performance and her talent to communicate with band and audience.
What a great vibe at Zeche Bochum.

Band:
Beth Hart (vocals, hammond)
Jon Nichols (guitar)
Tom Lilly (bass)
Todd Wolf (drums)
??? hammond
??? 18 years old guitarist cool

An amazing evening. Highlight concert in 2012 so far and it will be hard to top this concert.

Sounds awesome! So glad you had a great concert. Wish I was there as well.

Hammond player is Dutch - Will Maas.
Young guitar player is Josh Gooch I think from San Diego. More info on both of them on bethhart.com in the news section.

Josh recorded a song with Beth "Stroll On" that is only available in iTunes Japan! Uuughh. I wish I could download it. There is a short clip of it on his website. I listened to the longer clip on iTunes Japan. Rocking song.

According to Beth's official newsletter Beth will be going into the studio with Kevin Shirley following her current short European tour to record her next solo album.  cool

Re: Beth Hart

Still no video from the gig in Bochum.
Found out that Beth Hart's show in Munich has been moved to a bigger location: Backstage.

Outside of Don't Explain, have Beth and Kevin ever worked together?

Hi Gary,

No Don't Explain was the first time she worked with Kevin.

I'm really happy he will be producing her new album. I have a lot of respect for him as a producer and he likes to record with a live sound - which is important to me. In the article in Classic Rock Magazine when he was describing the recording of Sinner's Prayer he said basically, "recorded live, no dubbing, no auto-tune, no bullshit." That's the way I want to hear Beth. wink

Report from Munich, she sat in with Joe for two songs after she finished her show at another venue. How lucky for those in Munich.

Re: Beth Hart

i was in munich to see her and had a first row place just in front of her. a wonderfull show of a high energy lady.
she is spreading around a lot of positiv vibes as soon as she enters the stage and its obvious that she like what she does. she gave me shivers all over at a few songs, when she was playing with her voice which has a real wide range and come from crystal clear to dirty raspy in parts.
they moved the concert in a bigger hall as there was such an grand demand. she was surprised to see so many people as it was allmost sold out i think, that makes it double bad that she had or wanted to join jb.
it was not only her who made it a remarkable concert, the whole band are high professionell musicians. the young guitar player who looked like as he had to go to bed soon, so young he is (21), he played solos that were more than great, his playing in i ll take care of you was outstanding and the crowd gave him lots of ovations.
some of the songs she did from her album with joe, sounded even better with her band or maybe it was cause it live and she varied it with her wonderfull voice.
great concert with a toooooooooooooooooo short end. thats the only negativ thing to say about. a guy just beside me said, that she is able to do 3 hours shows sometimes. for me two hours would have been good and to leave such a big crowd  to join mr. bonamassa for two song is really something that pi.................me off.

I'm glad you had a great show. Sounds awesome! Beth does do long shows sometimes but it usually would be the last show on the tour. Beth has to be careful to not lose her voice because of the intensity that she sings. She also has medical issues that the people around her are aware of and they try to keep her shows to a length where she can stay healthy. Very glad you had an amazing show!

That was a very interesting interview.
Is it true that "My California isn't yet released in the USA??? Can't believe that. It's an incredible good CD.
Just listening to "Good as it gets" from the concert at Zeche Bochum :-)

Happiness ... any day now
Something got a hold on me
Don't explain
Your heart is as black as night
Chocolate Jesus
(You are the) Mood that I'm in
Monkey Back
For my Friends
Sick
Lift you up
I'll take care of you
Stinky feet
My California
One Eyed Chicken
Whole Lotta Love
