This was an extremely weak year for movie making. The Artist is a slap in the face to the special effects film factory. I saw The Descendants and really enjoyed it. Probably George's finest role and just a great film. I fell asleep within ten minutes watching the pretentious Tree of Life.

All you need to know, 'The Artist' swept the board, and rightly so, imo. Audience viewing figures were up 4%
Going to buy the DVD when it comes out.
I generally don't watch the show, but the wife wanted to so I was along for the ride. I truely enjoyed Streep's acceptance speech. "Whatever..." She is my favorite actress. I also got a kick out of "The Dictator's" antics on the red carpet before they dragged him off.

Funny you should mention Shooter...I saw the title of the topic and Shooter instantly came to mind - one of my all time favourite films. Real Steel is also a great film

Oops, sorry Brack, read your post too fast and incorrectly at that ... guess I was the one who liked Tree of Life ... I was mesmerized by the images and the music. Found it to be a totally right brain movie, not like anything I'd ever seen. Couldn't stop talking about it afterwards with my buddy who saw it with me ... of course trying to make sense of it with our left brains!
Just couldn't make myself go see The Artist. My movie buddies went and left in the middle from boredom. Everyone has their own taste.
