Oh yes thanks, Brack!
I think, from the other thread, Ian916 sums up my thoughts about Slash:-
"perhaps the extreme opinions he gets are as a result of him (through no fault of his own) being over rated largely by an audience who do not quite understand his playing style as opposed to somebody like Joe.. (if that makes any sense???)
Slash is a great rock icon, - he has the looks and style but technically (if there is such a thing) he is not the greatest guitarist despite being voted as such, - unless you take looks and style into the equation when voting for the best. IN saying that the music he plays suits his style,"
I think a lot of it stems from the "notoriety" that surrounded Guns 'n' Roses. Okay, so amonst others, Alice Cooper names Slash as one of his favourite guitarists, and I'm not one to contradict Alice, he's just not on my list.
Mike
SLASH KICKS ARSE..........PERIOD.
Putting aside the brilliant songs he was a part of and recorded with GNR, his latest solo album is loaded with killer tunes. I for one can't wait for his new offering with Myles singing all vocals.......should be nothing short of R&FN'R.
Sorry to both of you I hadn't realised you had replied!
Mike, I agree somewhat about the Guns N' Roses thing..and I also agree about his technical ability not being the best but I genuinely think he's one of the best composers alive right now
rpic, I also can't wait til his new solo album..I'm following his fb updates religiously
A year ago, Slash was in Texas rocking out with pop stars the Black Eyed Peas and Usher as part of the Super Bowl XLV halftime show.
This past weekend, he was a good 2,000-plus miles away from Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis — and for good reason. The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist was in Los Angeles wrapping up his second solo studio album, which is slated for a May 22 release on Slash’s own Dik Hayd International imprint.
Just like on 2010′s ‘Slash,’ singer Myles Kennedy handles vocal chores on the still-untitled album. But this time around, Kennedy had a hand in co-writing all of the songs with Slash.
“He is just very musical as far as his melodic style is concerned, and he’s also very lyrical and just a really powerful singer,” Slash explains. “There’s a lot of positives about the way he sings.”
Slash also has high praise for bassist Todd Kerns and drummer Brent Fitz, saying the rhythm section “brings something to the table and changes the dynamic completely from the last record — it’s much more cohesive.”
As for touring behind the album (which will be distributed by EMI), no dates have been announced yet, but Slash and band are targeting Europe, Asia and Australia, among other parts of the world.

Great news thanks!
They are headlining Download on 8 June so I would expect other UK dates around then.

Ha ,just remember Jonny, a senior moment doesn't refer to a senior in high school lol
Not to distract from the topic too much, but everything Myles Kennedy does is superb.
Those songs on the first Slash album, no doubt the second too...plus the Bolin tribute. Wow. There is a legendary voice as we live.
I forgot about my other thread:( haha!
Dave, Myles' voice is incredible...agreed 100% about the first album!!! Some people criticise him for not having a lower register but it's what makes him unique
everything Myles Kennedy does is superb.
Hells yeah, one of my favorite singers on the current music scene.
As far as SLASH, one of the most recognizable rock icons. Great player too. I don't care if he can't sit by himself and play the same as some of the virtuoso types. He seems better suited backed by a band. Absolutely love his style, and playing. His sound defines GnR as much as Axle's voice as far as I'm concerned. -S
