Nice mention of Joe, Oli Brown, Tallan and Sonny Landreth. I hope Joe gets some new fans from the article. I'm a little disappointed with how the writer worded Carlos Santana's string donation...a session bass player donated them with permission, but other than that, its a big plus to get the coverage and spread the word.
Hey George and Cathy, after all the talk, you didn't make the cut...I was trying to plug the JB forum romance that blossomed and how significant it was that George and Cathy got the first set of strings about a year after George's wife died from breast cancer.
Thanks again everyone for supporting StringsforaCURE.
edit - couldn't leave "beast" cancer - missing 'r' added - George

No sweat, Angela. Cathy will be delighted since she dislikes PDOAs anyway.
Always more than happy to do what little I can for this great cause.
(P.S. Remember to check the Bonnie topic when you're next here.)
You know, if any of you are considering a wonderful gift for a significant other for Christmas, this my friends is as great place to shop! Bought my wife Dawn a very sweet earring and necklace combination made with a purple stone.
The necklace: https://www.stringsforacure.com/store/p … sp?pid=443
The earrings: https://www.stringsforacure.com/store/p … sp?pid=441
Now, since Dawn doesn't look at the forum, nobody tip her off, OK? Plus, as most of you know, the proceeds of the sale go to benefit families that have recently found out they have breast cancer. What a fabulous way to give a gift and, no crowds to battle at the store!

And those 2 new Joe pieces mentioned in the above post sold in less than 24 hours! The power of lovin' Joe!

I have the strings from Gregg's acoustic and his Fender! Also two sets of Devon's strings, Devon has a signed LP by LP and just got a LP gold top. Father and son pieces will be available!
Very soon I should also have strings off of Bobby Schneck's (plays with Slash) guitar that Joe Perry played. Bobby told me that he was saving the strings on that guitar because they have some serious mojo, but that he would be happy to take them off for me. I am also trying to get some Bobby Schneck and Slash strings. I will keep everyone posted on those!
Happy shopping at StringsForACure!!
~Rhonda
Hi Rhonda,
Thanks for the update. The first order just was placed for a piece with Devon and Gregg Allman strings together, very cool. Also, great news about the potential of getting Slash's strings.
I ordered a pair of earrings made from Sandi Thom's strings, then Elisa put up a matching pendant, which I bought for my daughter for a future present. I didn't even have the earrings out of the box and she had them on her ears and wore them before me. I love this style.
https://www.stringsforacure.com/store/p … sp?pid=536 I think SFAC needs to expand the server or whatever, its going down alot, not sure this link opens right now...
Can anyone point me in the direct of 'official' figures for what percentange if the skae price goes to charity. I have been asking for this info directly for months and kept getting fobbed of.

Have you tried asking Elisa directly on FB? If not, I'm sure that Angela could give you her email.
Hi Martin,
I will forward your comment to Elisa. I'm not sure when you contacted her recently, I'm confident there is nothing intentional to ignore you. I do remember you requesting some info during the start-up stage.
This is Elisa's email- elisa@stringsforaCURE.com
Thanks for the reply Angela, sorry to be picky but I have had 2 awful experiences with 'charities' in the past and just like to verify anything I am interested in getting involved with.
Martin
Hi Martin,
No problem. I just spoke to Elisa, she welcomes your e-mail. elisa@StringsforaCURE.com I should mention, Elisa doesn't participate here on the JB forum and if you had a previous question, it may have fell victim to Communication Breakdown, since Elisa said she has had no contact from you. I may be guilty of not relaying the importance of your previous request, not sure and I can't remember exactly, I'm sorry to say I think you may have requested info via the JB forum a while back.....??? I apologize for whatever fell through the cracks.
So, let's take it from here. E-mail Elisa directly at elisa@stringsforCURE.com Thanks.
Thanks again for your interest in StringsforaCURE and I'm confident its charity parameters will met your expectations. I can totally understand your concern based on your past experience, it really ticks me off when I hear stories like that.

Hey everybody,
Just an update on a few things:
The SFAC Foundation has helped over 100 patients and is currently working on application #101.
Elisa is currently working on some Joe custom orders and will make a few extra, so keep a look out if you are interested.

Thanks to RHONDA, Ms. Photogal, who is simply AWESOME, Elisa has received Gregg Allman's strings. I can tell by the facebook response that having Gregg on board will help spread the word. I have to mention, Devon Allman is a very cool dude and he liked the whole idea and passed it on to his dad. And I'd also like to mention, if you are into barbecuing and tasty sauces, check this out.

I am working on getting Bruce Springsteen's strings, keep your fingers crossed!!!
Martin aka mbcl~Elisa said she never heard from you, please contact her at elisa@StringsforaCURE.com
And lastly, not to be a debbie downer, but long story short, in a Dylan-like simple twist of fate, 4 days before Christmas I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on my neck. It was the most stressful, mind numbing experience of my life. (Try seeking medical attention anytime around the holidays, totally bad timing.) When my surgeon told me to get a full body pet scan from head to toe, I hyperventilated for a week, my entire life came before me and I was making the bucket list. After the Pet Scan recommendation, I got 4 other opinions, not one doctor agreed with the surgeon and I decided not to get the pet scan. My diagnosis was stage 1A and pathology reports confirmed they got it all. The other opinions did not even want me to get a chest x-ray.
So, my word of advice to any of the baby boomers out there especially if you were sunburned in your youth, get your full body skin checks every year. I've been going religiously every year since 1997. I go to the doctor with a full pack of photos taken of every inch of my body and strip; its always fun when the room fills up with residents. I am fair skinned, blue-eyed & 50% Irish. When I was really young, sun block did not exist, when I was a teen I spent alot of time on the beach and I got sunburned. (these factors all make me high-risk, especially getting sunburned early on in life)
What is scary about my malignant spot was it wasn't a freckle or a mole, it was just a slightly tannish-pinkish spot that was totally flat. (think albino-like) If it wasn't on the front of my neck I may not have noticed it, it doesn't look like any of the photos of malignant melanoma I've ever seen. Now that this is behind me, honestly, in a glass half-full kind of way, I am really lucky!!! This is a deadly cancer if its further along and gets into your lymphatic system.
So, I'll leave you with this. Wear sunscreen for long periods out in the sun. DON'T go in tanning beds or let your kids or grandchildren tan in a tanning bed. That industry needs to be regulated and the lobbyists for tanning beds are total scum bags! I saw Diane Sawyer did a undercover camera special last week, employees at tanning beds are lying to customers about safety. I remember only going to a tanning bed a few times, but out of ignorance, I did allow my daughter to go before prom, just so stupid of me. The article below is about a tanning-bed beauty queen now a pediatrician at Children's Hospital in Philly.

I'm glad to hear of your favorable outcome with the MM Angela. I too am a skin damaged babyboomer who now is covered with lesions from years of surfing and sun. A few years ago I had my first real one cut off. Luckily just a basal cell carcinoma but now I know what is in store. My dermatologist prescribed Fluorouracil, a topical creme chemo which selectively attacks and kills precancerous skin cells so that as these lesions appear I can treat them before they progress. Anyone who has been diagnosed with actinic keratoses (sun damage scaly lesions) or suspects they have them should ask their physician about this treatment. I told my mom about this and she asked and was prescribed. She noted that even the lesions which had been burned away with liquid nitrogen in the past had rings of cells around the area which were attacked (the area with bad cells turns red and inflamed as the drug does it's job), proving the initial treatment did not get all of the problem.
Rick
Thanks for updating us Angela and I'm glad you had the additional opinions and a positive outcome. This is a warning I need to be reminded about, being fair skinned and red haired and sunburned plenty of times in childhood. I do regular visits to dermatologist to stay on top.
