My GOLDIE Build Part 5

The guitar body -- warmoth, sparkled by Marty Bell Finishing --- what a GREAT JOB ( except the messed up water decal, which I wanted under the clear coat )

The top one, first attempt at goldie build, nice guitar, nothing like GOLDIE though:

Another shot:

Another shot, prior to assembly:

More pics to come -- once I install the decal on the front of the guitar...not sure if I will go with water decal or vinyl???

More to come.....

Re: Goldie in the making

Final GOLDIE post for today!!!

Since Joe was so cool to sign guitar, and this was second chance to do meet and greet, wanted to get Joe a present.  When I saw him in New Hampshire in Nov. 2010, he spent almost an hour showing me stage gear and guitar.  MEMORY OF A LIFETIME FOR ME!!!!

Wanted to show my appreciation for taken so much time to hang with me:

Gift for joe:  Strymon El Capistan Delay Pedal ( Echoplex based delay ), a very cool pedal.  notice the stickers on the pedal front and box front...shameless self-plug, ha!!!!

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= … =544093715

When I presented pedal to Joe, he was telling me a story that the day prior while speaking to Kevin Shirley, Kevin had a session the day prior and the guitarist at the session had this cool pedal that replicated an old echoplex, and it was made by Strymon.....I told Joe, "this is that pedal man".  Mentioned that no self-respecting marshall plexi owner doesn't have an echoplex to go with plexi, or in this case a Strymon   big_smile

Here is shot of me giving pedal to Joe:

According Brett Diaz, who I met at the Worcester show, when I presented Joe with pedal, joe took it backstage and plugged it in right away...and the next night replaced his Keeley modded boss delay on his theramin pedalboard -- HOW FREAKING COOL.

When I bumped into Joe and Roy in New Hampshire on the street last month for BCC show, he remembered me and thanked me for the pedal again -- was FREAKING BLOWN AWAY, how awesome was that!!!!

I gave the pedal because Joe created a memory of a lifetime for me, talking gear and shotting the **## for almost an hour prior to one of his gigs, here are some shots from that meeting:

WHAT A GREAT DAY THAT WAS!!!!!

Finally here I am featured ( THANK YOU BRETT!!! ) in one of the "On The Road" videos, Joe signing my neck ( my rambling like an idiot!!! ) and presenting the Strymon Pedal to Joe:

VERY COOL.....

Re: Goldie in the making

Going to Joe at WANG THEATER in Nov in Boston, might see if I can get GOLDIE build into Joe's hands....would dig a picture of him with guitar --- and dream would be if he dug, to play a tune on it that night, a guy can dream right?????

Or I might take the JB Les Paul Studio I just picked up and see if I can get that signed???

Really would be cool to have picture of Goldie build in Joe's hands.....

Enough posts for tonight -- will get the decal on the front and take some pictures in the sun, maybe show the sparkle off???

Good night and thanks for checking out -- did not mean to hijack thread.....

That really turned out great.  I have one of those water decals from Spider too.  I know what you mean mustering up the courage!

Re: Goldie in the making

They will tear if your not gentle with them.

Make sure the surface is smooth and is clean and free from polish. Soak the decal in luke warm water until it just starts to come completely free from the backing paper. Gently slide the decal off the backing paper onto the surface. Slightly soapy water on the surface will help you maneuver the decal into place. I use a damp piece of cotton to gently smooth out any wrinkles and to push out air pockets. Once you're done let it thoroughly dry. I do not recommend lacquering over these as it will likely lift the decal.

Good Luck!

It would be neat if you could get something going with Joe's merch people.  Sell a Goldie sticker pack through his store.  Probably all sorts of legal reasons you can't but it would be neat thing for them to have....

If J&R Adventures wanted to make money off of a "back-strat" Goldie decal kit, and make more Fenders scream "Joe was here" that would be fine with me. I didn't see dollar signs when I remade them at all. I just wanted to make something for a project and share it with some JB fans. If they wanted the artwork, I'd happily send it to them. I won't take any money for it, and they can take care of the copyright permissions to reproduce the Hot Licks Video decal, etc. Free advertising for Hot Licks anyways.
