You are the reason that a Girl started the NFL Topic.
With you Mr. Davis, I could never feel out of place as a girl who YOU made love Football. Because all through your life, you opened doors for people and gave them opportunities to try new things that otherwise they would not have experienced. Not only did you open doors, but you helped them though to exceed to higher levels with your guidance and wealth of knowledge. I can't list the number of people that you have helped through the NFL and other endeavors, because the list is too numerous.
I can list one to this day that brings tears to my eyes. And what a friendship you 2 have.
The Great Jim Otto.
"There were several times when I was very ill," Otto said. "Every time I was ever in the hospital - and I was in the hospital many, many times - he called every day, checked me out, made sure I was all right. Jim Otto had to have his leg amputated.
It was such an honor to go to a game and see you and him in your box. Jim Otto is such a kind and generous man who is one of the strongest individuals I have ever seen.
You made sure Jim would always be home where he belonged on Game Day - In Raider Nation.
You built us Mr. Davis, a Nation. The Raider Nation that anywhere we play an away game, I see lots of my fellow Raider fans rooting as hard for the team as we do at home. The Raider Nation that will forever burn your legacy of "Commitment to Excellence", "Pride and Poise" and "Just Win Baby". It will never be the same without you, but you would want us to be even stronger now for what you have built. The Raiders were not just your team, they were your family. And us as fans felt that, saw that, and knew that. You welcomed so many former Raiders back to the team and made sure they and their wives and families were taken care of. If someone was ill, you wanted to make sure they got the best care possible. You would arrange it.
Al Davis Bled Silver and Black, he loved football, he loved his team, and he loved his fans-dpad.
This here is who he was: He wasn't just a coach to his players, he was a coach to us fans.

This is just my take without all the history, innovation, brilliant mind, scouting, coaching, maverick, visionary because I could write a book. There will never be anyone ever close to you and what you built with football with the way that you did things. You did things your way. You are the only one who would ever draft Janokowski, a field goal kicker with the 17th pick and punter Shane Lechler in the same draft in the 5th round. And now they are the foundation of the team, Jano ties 2 NFL records in 5 games. They have changed the way the whole NFL looks at kicking. Kickers aren't a joke anymore because of what you foresaw.
You were the Owner, but the closest called you "Coach".
I'm glad that the last thing you got to see was Hue Jackson as the Coach you gave the Raiders.
He is a True Raider and will stand true and carry on to what you want embodied in this organization. He will fight for you and what you fought for. "Just Win Baby"
