Agreed Brack, but my point was that those who choose to watch half the races on BBC free to air, may choose not to pay to watch the other half (or all on Sky)

I finally got to watch one, then off to work. Great race with lots of action that I enjoyed immensely. Really dicy with the back markers lumped up and the leaders snaking through the pack. A touch of rain to add some spice on slicks.  yikes

Gutted to have missed this yesterday but can't leave the family in the middle of a outdoors picnic lunch just to watch the TV  sad . 

Did get to see some highlights and it looked a riveting race between Lewis and Jenson which by the looks of it Lewis would have won if he hadn't done a doughnut/donut after falling off the circuit and thus got his knuckles rapped from the stewards.  Former F1 driver and world champion Nigel Mansell's already slammed Lewis for being 'immature' and as Our Nige is a race steward Lewis would be wise to pay heed to what he says.

...unfortunately Nigel whilst being one of the best drivers ever is not the right person to judge Lewis: Nigel understands driving but nothing about charisma combined with having a good time and so confuses it with immaturity.  roll

Agreed you can't combine the words Mansell and charisma in the same sentence but doing the type of manoeuvre Lewis did in the middle of a race track in front of oncoming cars is a sign of immaturity and reckless impulsiveness.   He was lucky not to have caused an accident.  I'm not knocking Lewis's gung-ho spirit but there's a time and a place.

Who is your bet for the season?  Vettel is shaping to be the heavy contender but I think that it is too soon to judge just yet.  Though you can argue that I am saying this because I just am not a fan. 

I noticed though that Vettel can win races if he is in the lead and with that fast car but it seems that he is losing out on defending for positions, which is integral to show your true prowess.

Steve Slater has commented on this in the last few races as that has become pretty evident of his driving.

For want of a better place, this is here. I just read a good and very interesting review by our local and well respected motorsports columnist, Bill Center. "Senna" the movie. Bottom line, if you are an F1 fan and like the great ones of the past, go see this movie. It is a documentary based on Ayrton Senna's life and career, with some good insight into what made him "tick". I'll leave you with Bill's closing statement. "Senna is much more than a racing film. It is a great study of a leading competitor of our time. The man could drive. And he was driven."

Completely agree with you Brack.  Great race, full of overtaking (DRS aided or otherwise), and a real adrenalin ride.  Talk about wheel to wheel racing!  Congratulations to Jenson Button who finished in a storming third place after starting from 13th on the grid, but what about the 'old man' then?  Michael Schumacher shows once again that he's not just in it to make up the numbers. 

Spa is one of my favourite circuits and never disappoints.  Next week, another fave - Monza.  Forza Ferrari!
