I'm afraid it did/does nothing for me. I watched a couple of minutes in a bar of the USA-France game and it was enough.
Its not a chauvanistic thing or anything. They are very skillful and their game has come a long way I'm sure, but it does nothing for me.
As has been elewhere here on this thread I too was impressed with their on field behaviour towards officials and that is definately a 'takeaway' the men's game could benefit from.
Maybe it is a perception thing on my part, but I think the goalkeeping standards will have to improve to capture my attention. The odd bits I saw always featured a keeper flapping pathetically at something. Like Scottish goalkeepers in the early '70's !
There was certainly a big fuss over it here in D, especially while the home team were still in with a shout, but I think thats mostly as the Germans currently would go wild about their team in the World Tiddlywinks Championship. There is a nationalistic fervour here for the Red, Black & Gold when they have a chance of winning something.
Still, pleased for the Japanese. If it puts a smile on the face of that nation at the moment after their tribulations this year it definately has value.
