Hey Wooders, et all, sorry for not saying hello. I only saw this thread after I got back home. Never realised there was a forum meet. I was with my parents and brother anyway so they probably would have been worried If I had have been meeting up with random internet peeps anyhow lol, although I'm sure my bro would have liked to have met Marcus after raving about seeing him at Glasto. Got in the priority queue thanks to being an O2 customer so got in quite promptly anyway. Was invited to their vip bar but sadly had to decline their offer of free drinks (I'm still crying) so we could grab some seats as dad can't stand too long now bless the old boy, hes not even 60yet lol He was falling asleep during the show because of our stupid early starting job. Hopefuly I can say hello to some of you guys and gals in the future.
Anyway hope everyone had a great night, I know I did. I can honestly say that was the best concert I have ever been too and thats after BB King the night before. Incidentally, I was the skinhead guy with a BB King shirt on sitting In Level 1, busy trying to top my Mum and Bro from accosting Steve Winwood who was sitting in the reserved section at the side.
Firstly it was my 1st time at the Empire and I loved the venue, great sound, great view, comfy seats, nice bar, polite staff - good all around. Robert Randolph was amazing as the opening act, great energy, great band and if Derek is the king od slide Robert is the king of the steel! Crazy leap out of his chair and on his knees lapsteel playing really worked the crowd up, perfect warm up!
Then the main event, for me I don't think I have ever seen such a hard working band. Never had the pleasure of seeing Joe as of yet but so far this band set the bar for effort. Every single member gave 100% every single second of the night, the sweat was pouring. Everyone wassuperb at their job. Derek was Derek, just a superb player, the pre-eminent slider of his generation, some his solos were spellbinding and breaking out Anyday was a magic moment as everyone loved the Dominoes. Susans voice is breathtaking as well, my favourite female singer. What surprised me was just how well she played guitar, I know people have been raving about how good she is getting but as demonstrated by Petes vid she was exceptional, crowd loved it.
Like I said I just loved the concert and am sure everyone else did. Aynsley Lister tonight so the funs not over but damn he has a hard jon on his hands now lol

Man, I love this song. First time I saw the Crossroads DVD it just knocked me sideways.
Sorry for the delay in posting this. The fact that Danny, Pete and Roger have already set the scene, and wanting to get a review of Gegg Allman’s show posted, meant this had to take a back seat.
Danny, if you were in the O2 priority queue you probably saw Pete and I at the head of it getting very agitated as the clock ticked toward 7pm and door opening as we didn’t have our tickets at that time. Nice review, above.
Well I’m pleased to say that after just one more listen I was hit by the Revelator in good time before this amazing gig at Shepherds Bush.
I can truthfully say that this show was right up there with the best I’ve seen for sheer musicianship and artistry. The combination of Derek’s soaring and screaming slide and Susan’s beautiful voice that is equally at home on the gentle blues ballads and on the rockier songs is just about perfection. I thought seeing Derek and his band at this venue two years ago was good but this easily exceeded it on all levels. I think the sound made a big difference this time as I remember that the DTB were loud and Mike Mattison’s voice, although wonderfully gruff, was a bit of a blur at that gig.
The set list and my further comments as follows:
1. Don’t let me Slide
2. Midnight In Harlem – sublime stuff, see Pete’s video
3. Space Captain – I had a great singalong to this song which I don’t think I’ve heard since the Mad Dogs and Englishmen album. Remember that classic live album with Joe Cocker and Leon Russell amongst others? Perfect for the horn section.
4. Learn How To Love
5. Until You Remember My name – love this; I get chills every time and it was great to hear it live.
6. Anyday – the Derek and The Dominos song from Layla only this time Derek was Derek. 
He also gave a pretty good Duane impression too.
7. That Did It – this is the song that Pete has uploaded to youtube without a name. It’s getting lots of views. 
8. Simple Song
9. Love Has Something Else To Say – on which Susan has a chance to let rip and show she can play a mean guitar lick or two.
10. Manic Depression – instantly recognisable intro to this Jimi song featuring some great bass lines and singing from Brother Oteil Burbridge.
11. Uptight – yes, that Little Stevie song and a great tune for a blast on the horns and community singing. 
12. Bound For Glory
Encore of two songs blended into one.
1. Don’t Drift Away
2. Just Kissed My Baby
Pete and I were at the after show party but sadly it was a bit of a disappointment. Derek had broken a toe while surfing on the day they flew to Europe and had slipped away to take the weight of his foot. Of the other band members only Susan was there still in her stage dress. If you’re seeing the Tedeschi Trucks Band on this tour be prepared to have your socks knocked off!

Very nice review Phil. Really think that the combination with Susan and Derek and the other new band mates really bring Derek's music to a new level. One of my favorite bands now... Last time we saw TTB got Derek to sign the Crossroads program from last year!
Just saw on the TeamCoco website that the Tedeschi Trucks Band is going to be on Conan O'Brian's show on 7/19.

I wished I could see them on Sunday at Bonn Museumsmeile but I'm invited to a birthday party and I have to go. Bad timing.
I don't usually post negative reviews, but TTB's album comes up short for me. There's a few good songs, but nothing that's really grabbing me. I think the problem is Susan's singing is sounding too generic and the songwriting imo isn't the most original. Listening to Trampled Under Foot's album The Wrong Side of the Blues, which imo is much better, I hear what's missing, and that's great songwriting and singing with real emotion. I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but these vids sound like what I was hoping to hear from such a talented band as TTB.

Kind of Apples to Oranges Curby. I like TUF saw them a few months ago. Much more straight up blues. TTB is more of an amalgamation of styles. I agree with you on the album being not that strong. I have seen some of the live footage and thinking about making the drive to see them so I can't say without a doubt but I have a feeling I would be hard pressed to say that TUF is in the same league as TTB.

Totally agree with the an apples and oranges comparison, but I didn't say TUF was a better band. I was saying their album is much more interesting to me. I can feel an intensity that's rarely heard these days and not surprisingly the album has earned much critical praise.

Sorry guess I misunderstood your point since you posted the Youtube links of them live. I haven't heard their album. I don't own any Susan Tedeschi and although I own DTB I only really like a few songs on each of them. I just thought between Susan and Derek they would hit a homerun. I guess I had too high of expectations. It is more of a mood album. Got to be in that kind of mood. I am still letting it grow on me. Not like I erased it out of my Ipod or anything like that.

I feel much the same. I think you ought to get the TUF album cause it's a very good Blues album. The vids I put up aren't from the new album. The new songs are much better.
