Aaawww, Jesse sorry you missed.  I really just got lucky.  Am getting ready for work and just happened to glance over at the right time.  It felt like an honor to be able to see it.  So precious.  Keep watching.....I wonder if there is a certain time they feed?  I haven't read thru all the written info below, maybe there is something about it or may be totally random as Mom & Pop can find something to eat.  I will wish all day for you that you get to see them feeding & nuzzling, too!

Patty - that big clump of feathers in the foreground is lunch!  Yesterday there was another not so alive animal in the midst of the feathers and I think a fish.  Dad is a good hunter and seems to believe in providing an assortment of choices.  wink
Feeding time seems to happen quite a bit.  Yesterday when the newest eaglet hatched he was so funny to watch - kept falling over on his head.

Roy - there are no lights used at night.  They have an infrared camera that the eagles cannot see that is used at night.  Scroll down from the video and you will find lots of interesting stuff.

A fascinating website.  I was fortunate enough to see a lot of bald eagles in Florida a few years ago.  They are a magnificent bird.

Dad causes a problem - Mom fixes it!  This stuff is great.

I wish my ISP wasn't throttling me!  I can only watch 1-2 seconds before it stalls for 2-3 seconds.

Re: LIVE Webcam of Eagle on Nest in Iowa

I can't stop watching this. At work, I keep it up on my second monitor.   I believe it was actually the mom that brought in the food yesterday. It's hard to tell who's who, but they describe which is which if you scroll down to the FAQs.   I was watching when she dropped it off.  Watched the daddy feed the babies.  Later, mom came back and took over the nest while daddy took a break.  Then, mom fed the babies.  It appears that both of them share in taking care of the little eaglets.  They are so cute

Seriously hope the winds die down a bit.  Waiting for baby #3.

I was going to mention that as well.... Infrared is almost always used when filming animals at night.  smile

An interesting site watching our National Bird! San Diego County is a wintering area for raptors and many varieties can be seen. We had an Osprey in our pine tree for a bit and once watched a large Red Tailed Hawk freshen up in the birdbath in the garden, then move to a shrub to preen and dry. Our friends in the back country have a Golden Eagle return every year to their oak grove, a magnificent bird to watch!

One question...why was a very bright light on the bird the other morning when I was watching it? It was still dark out and the light was a bright, white light not infrared.

Oh, they seem to be.  It's just that I read this little blurb in the FAQs and I wonder how strong the tree branches are.

How old is the nest?
The eagles built it in 2007. A previous nest close by fell when a windstorm broke one of the branches.

Re: LIVE Webcam of Eagle on Nest in Iowa

There is an eagle nest on Renee's parents lake cabin property in northern WI and watching them is always fascinating! It's amazing how quickly these young eagles grow. By the end of July for sure, probably sooner, they will be large enough to leave the nest.

It just looks bright because that is the way infrared looks to our eyes.  You can read about it on the website  - the eagles can't see it and there is no light shining on them.

Re: LIVE Webcam of Eagle on Nest in Iowa

I have to keep checking from time to time and hope to see activity.  Usuallly it is quite boring until the changing of the guard or feeding time.  Quite intriging.  I feel like an anxious parent waiting for a birth to happen on the 3rd one.  Any time now.  I've seen the other two squabble a bit at feeding time.  Ahh....sibiling rivalry.  Just hope the new little one will get it's fair share too.

Re: LIVE Webcam of Eagle on Nest in Iowa

I watched baby #3 hatch last night, or partially hatch.  By the time I tuned in the hatching was in full swing.  Mommy and Daddy really seem to have their hands (or shoud I say heir beaks) full.  These little guys are gettig very active.  So cute.

Re: LIVE Webcam of Eagle on Nest in Iowa

This has been an experience watching this.  Mother Nature knows her stuff.  If you want a few chuckles check out their facebook page - people are hysterical over these weather conditions and how it is affecting the eagles - hope this teaches a few folks a little respect for how awesome these birds are and how well made they are to survive under a huge variety of conditions - they're handling this a lot better than all the watchers are.  And poor Mom is having a horrible hair day!  Enjoying this a lot.

Re: LIVE Webcam of Eagle on Nest in Iowa

Wonder what the eaglets think of the snow surrounding their nest?  It is suppose to warm up tomorrow so hopefully the snow will melt away and bring them a sunny day.  We've got more rainy days ahead....snow in one part of the state, rain in another part, hail and rain and lightening......Sandy, I too am really taken with this.....It feels such an honor & privilege to see the secret side of nature.....and what a wonderful thing for tens of thousands of people to share!  What shall we watch after the eaglets leave the nest?  I was watching a family of owls in Australia one day...talk about cute-cute faces!!!  There was one looked like he/she was intentionally always hogging the camera time....lol....lol....
