I HAVE AN ORIGINAL BLUE FUZZ FACE I BOUGHT WAY BACK IN THE EARLY 70'S...(71-72)...WORKS GREAT & IS IN SUPERB CONDITION AS WELL.
HOW DOES THE NEW JBF3 COMPARE WITH AN ORIGINAL ONE,DOES ANYONE HAVE AN OLD ORIGINAL ONE OUT THERE?
DO THEY SOUND THE SAME...OR IS THERE A DIFFERENCE....?
I suspect yours (by its age) is a silicon FF - check out any numbers on the transistors (they're the three legged components on the circuit board) they should say BC108, or BC183. Joe's has Germanium transistors which were used in earlier 1966-1968 or so versions which have NKT275 or similar transistors... I have several old FF's of both versions- they all sound different!
Germaniums tend to have less gain & a softer, warmer tone- which is typical of the 'Joe' version... Silicon's tend to be brighter toned and have much more gain- I know players like David Gilmour & Eric Johnson prefer the Silicon.
This don't look like no express way to me...
