Topic: I Received The JB Fuzz Face In The Mail Today

Wow! What an amazing pedal, JBF3 is equipped with Russian Military-grade germanium transistors and its housing wears a gleaming polished copper finish.  The ad is on page 38 of the April issue of Guitar Player magazine. There is also a full page ad for Dust Bowl on page 62. I wanted to be the first to let everyone know.

I received the Dust Bowl cd in the mail today also.

Take care,
Bill

I saw those too. I emailed the shop to see if it has shipped yet and if they could provide me with a tracking number.

Glad to hear these pedals are out.  What makes it "amazing"? It's got that unique copper shell. But soundwise, how does it differ from other germanium fuzzes?
I recently picked up the Dunlop Jimi Hendrix bc108 fuzz face and was pleasantly surprised. It's far superior to the red dunlop fuzz faces. They've certainly got a winner with it.

It definitely looks badass. Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

Good to see them coming out! I'm tempted but the price in the UK is disappointing, nearly 270 quid! Thats 200 quid more than a red and even the JH fuzZies can b had for about 110-120 these days.  sad

'll have to see if I can resist the urge to get one of these or a Sun face.  tongue

Re: I Received The JB Fuzz Face In The Mail Today

DV247 has them for £169 in the uk.  I'm waiting for mine to arrive from them.  Should be some point this week according to them!

I received the April issue of Guitar Player magazine that features the JB Fuzz Face in the mail. I did not receive the actual pedal itself.

Sorry for the confusion.

I am still looking forward to receiving the pedal, along with everyone else…

Take care,
Bill

I'll check 'em out mate! cheers for the heads up!  smile

Re: I Received The JB Fuzz Face In The Mail Today

Yeah, what makes these so much more different than any other Germanium fuzz? I love Joe and I love fuzz faces, but I can't justify the price if it's the same thing just so I can have a cool shell and Joe's name on it

Re: I Received The JB Fuzz Face In The Mail Today

HI ALL
I HAVE AN ORIGINAL BLUE FUZZ FACE I BOUGHT WAY BACK IN THE EARLY 70'S...(71-72)...WORKS GREAT & IS IN SUPERB CONDITION AS WELL.
HOW DOES THE NEW JBF3 COMPARE WITH AN ORIGINAL ONE,DOES ANYONE HAVE AN OLD ORIGINAL ONE OUT THERE?
DO THEY SOUND THE SAME...OR IS THERE A DIFFERENCE....?

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

I suspect yours (by its age) is a silicon FF - check out any numbers on the transistors (they're the three legged components on the circuit board) they should say BC108, or BC183.  Joe's has Germanium transistors which were used in earlier 1966-1968 or so versions which have NKT275 or similar transistors...  I have several old FF's of both versions- they all sound different!

Germaniums tend to have less gain & a softer, warmer tone- which is typical of the 'Joe' version...  Silicon's tend to be brighter toned and have much more gain- I know players like David Gilmour & Eric Johnson prefer the Silicon.

This don't look like no express way to me...

Has anyone received theirs who ordered through the JB Store here?

I ordered mine the day they showed up in the store. It was dropped off this past Saturday. The hold up may be the free tee shirt. I have heard that there is a severe shortage of large tees.
