Final: Green Bay Packers 21 Chicago Bears 14

A typical, hard fought, brutal nail biter between the two best teams in the division who happen to be the oldest rivals in the NFL. Man, my stomach was churning like some of that fine butter that Wisconsin produces. Congratulations to the Chicago Bears and the great year they had.

Excuse me, I've got to go take a nap now....three down and one to go....and now it's on to the Super Bowl! cool

Re: Application to Become a Packers Fan

Well, the laugh-in is over! I guess that means the offending application used all the offense of the Bears up! The Packers may have the convenience stores of America stocked with Bear Jerky for a while now.  It might have to be extra salted to taste good!  lol
Good game played by a surprising defense and a struggling offense.  Good job, heck of a try by a 3rd string 3rd year QB.  Bears teammates show class tapping him on the helmet for effort, even after throwing the game ending interception.

Not sure which defense you're referring to Rocket, but both GB & the Bears have great defenses, neither of which surprised me. As far as struggling offenses, both teams struggled...in fact, the offenses tied 14 - 14 with the difference being the 18 yard interception return for a TD. I think even GB fans would agree that Rodgers had a mediocre game compared to what he'd done the last two weeks.
Not trying to take anything away from GB, they were the better team yesterday.
Congrats to them and the Packers fans and good luck in the Super Bowl.
BTW, that Packer application was not meant to offend...all meant in good fun.

Actually Bill, I thought it was hysterical and actually, I have said and done a few of those things myself. wink

I would agree with you too that Aaron Rodgers did not have a good game al all, but that had a lot to do with the Bear defense. Not sure what Lovie Smith was thinking by not taking the ball and playing defense on the opening kickoff. But after that Packer drive, it was very tough going for them the rest of the game. Like I said before, we played an extremely tough team in a very hostile environment and were fortunate to come out on top.

OK Bill S insulting a moderator is a banable offense. 30 days minimum.
jim m proud stockholding member and fan since the 67' when I jumped on the Packer bandwagon. I have gone on to pilgrimages to Lambeau. My wife left the Packer family when Brett did but my son and I have remained loyal. Never would of thought Aaron Rogers would bring them this far.

Re: Application to Become a Packers Fan

Some Packer fan save me the research time:

How long was Aaron Rogers on the team waiting for playing time while Brett was still there?

I saw a photo in the paper with a Packers fan wearing a "St. Vince" hat, it said something about being the Packers saint? (Vince Lombardi?)

I know I mentioned this before, but, way, way back, when my husband was a kid and the Eagles were terrible, a lot of Philadelphia fans took on the Packers as a secondary team to root for! For a guy that has a tendency to ditch everything, he still has his unsharpened Green Bay Packers pencil.

Re: Application to Become a Packers Fan

That's right, you are a big Packer fan Jim, I think we've talked about that before! cool

Not making any excuses for Aaron Rodger's sub-par perfromance on Sunday, but it has been reported that he did have a bit of a shoulder injury early in the game...

"McCarthy says the "injury" happened on a first-quarter touchdown run, from which Rodgers jogged away relatively slowly. It was not an issue on the fourth-quarter, helmet-to-helmet hit Rodgers took from Julius Peppers. McCarthy did reiterate that Rodgers is "fine," and he'll start the Super Bowl."

I still say it was the Bear's very tough defense that made the difference and thank goodness Rodgers gave up his body and took down Urlacher on the interception otherwise, that could have really changed the game.

Here's a picture of my son Ben with "St. Vince" from a couple of years ago Angela when we attended a game:

Rodgers was selected in the first round of the 2005 draft. He didn't start until Favre's "retirement" before the 2008 season began.
