Will have to decide which stays, Gonna hook the pedals up in this order, Providence SOV-2 - Volt Amps Smooth Blues Driver - Tanabe Dumkudo. I can keep 2 of the 3. I'll report back tonight hopefully.
Looking forward to that Fuzz. I have the Bluesbreaker 2 and it's pretty good but I am still on the lookout for a really special OD pedal for my Artisan 15 (it doesn't have any gain controls at all) or a combination that works good.
So i got the pedals hooked up last night and had a play. I set the dumkudo on dumble mode and was instantly impressed. A nice smooth overdrive, very much a higher gain robben ford sound. The tone controls really helped shape the sound but I liked it best with volume at 9 o'clock, gain at 3 o'clock, tone controls both at 12 o'clock. This pedal sounded good with my PRS which has lower output pickups than my les paul.
The volt amps smooth blues driver was set with all controls at noon except the gain which I had a 3 o'clock. Again this gave a very good smooth overdrive sound. The sound was a lower gain slightly brither sound than the dumkudo. A very usable tone. This one sounded good with my les paul which has a bare knuckle black dog fitted to the bridge
The providence stampede is a different beast to the other pedals. Although it does a good overdrive sound it is not as smooth sounding as the dumkudo or smooth blues driver. At present I think I will be keeping the dumkudo and the smooth blues driver. I think the search is over for overdrive pedals, for now anyway.
