Topic: Texas Mile
Here in the US, there is a great tradition of drag racing. Once a year in Texas, at an industrial airport, folks come from far and wide to do the standing start mile with the fastest car they can build. All that counts is horsepower, traction management, and the top speed achieved at the end of the mile run. Oh, and the ability to stop in 1/2 mile from the speed you achieve. These are all street legal cars.
