Re: budda superdrive owners

I have a series 1 SD30.   Before it, I've owned Dumble Clones, Mesas, racks, digital modelers... This is the first amp in over 10 years that has stuck around.  It's just incredible and SIMPLE.   I don't like the PHAT 12s at all, but through either my Marshall 1960bx or my 1x12 with a Peavey XXX speaker (it actually sounds really good), the Budda is delicious.  I run the clean clean channel with the bright switch on, gain at about 11:00, and eq all at 12:00.   When i really bang on it, the clean channel starts to bite.   Roll the volume back to 8 on the guitar, it's nice and clean.  Add a fuzzface or something on top, and it's sonic glory.  And that's just the clean channel.   Switch to the drive channel and look out.

Oh, do the volume balance mod... even if not for the balance.  It opens up the drive channel some, makes it less low-mid heavy.  At least it did with me.

Re: budda superdrive owners

I have been thinking about the superdrive 18 II for a few weeks now.  A local store carries them.  This guy who owns the store has extremely expensive vintage guitars and such, but I know if I go in there I'll be walking out with yet another amp head that I don't need.  You, since you have started this post, will be partially to blame!!  -Seth

HAHA!  If you've seen my gear collection video you'd see I have enough amps to choose from, but I was looking for something to pair my Egnater Tweaker with and the superdrive 18 was a thought.  I have the cash in pocket right now, thats what scares me about going and playing one!!  -Seth

Re: budda superdrive owners

I have an early ptp SD30 and I love it. Also you might check out www.eastamplification.com . It's Jeff Bober's new Amp designs.  I have one of his Studio 2 combos.  It's very much like if you meshed a Superdrive with a Twinmaster.  It's voiced more like the older Twimasters, but the power section reponds more like a Superdrive.......if that makes any sense.  I know he has a 18watt in production, but I think there is a 45 watt incarnation in the works too.  Also, he builds them by order one by one, himself.  Can't beat that. big_smile
