I don't get this!

You see so many threads in pursuit of Joe's tones, and people saying that I have just bought this and that to try and get the same tone that Joe has, and in many cases my guess would be that the only weak link in achieving the "tone" is the guitarists ability and talent, that's why Joe gets it and I (along with many others) don't, this kid is a special player, just trying to nail the JB notes is hard enough and this kid does it brilliantly. Fair do's he's not a singer, but then he dosen't pretend to be he was covering for the vocalist that walked off ill.

I get a small sense of the green eyed monster coming out in people, if I could have the rig, I would love it, but I still wouldn't sound like Joe, this kid does!! lol  lol

Have Fun and laugh like it's your first time! You never know you might get to like it! big_smile

The kid has chops I'll give him that. As for the gear more power to him... cool

As I read through this thread I was building this very statement in my head.

This whole section is dedicated to those chasing all or part of Joe's tone.

This is a MONSTER RIG- This kid is one lucky MF'r. Good for him..

My favorite part of all this is that they have this killer set up that would clobber any large venue....In a living room.

I love America and the conflicted envy of those sniping at this clip.

If he had a PVW Twinkleland...- now that would be the living end!!

All this is well and good.  We've all emulated our heros growing up.  I got my first Les Paul because Jimmy Page and Peter Frampton played one.  Got a Boogie and 335 to sound like Carlton back in the day but at some point you have to find your own voice.  Plus, gear doesn't make someone good.  A good player on bad gear still sounds good.  A bad player on good gear sounds worse.  Find your own voice.

Actually these guys HAVE their own voice.  They are called Mayday Mother and have some pretty catchy originals with a female lead singer. I suspect their singer was sick and they decided to play some JB covers to keep the gig.

Well the Youtube channel is down. I did however find this clip which might belong in other artists but this is a solo from his band's original song which I think is some pretty original playing.

Hey, Jim...I had posted the cover of "Just Got Paid" that Steve sang in--and when he found out about it, he made me take it down! He's working on his singing, but he sure didn't want THAT particular shot at it finding its way into the public domain.

The band has changed radically since then and the song has been re-posted by the boys on their new YT page. Here it is if anyone wants to tune in, recorded on a home video camera in their practice space. It's always a big hit when they play it live, and they use it--plus a couple of others--to spread the word about JB to whole bunches of Canadians!
