Topic: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

IF THIS IS YOU IM NOT  HAVING A DIG!!
While on u tube i found this clip of 3 lads jamming, i noticed that the guitarist has the full bonamassa rig!!
4 amp heads ,jub ,cat5,carolann??,? 2 cat 5 cabs, auralex great gramma ,clearsonic baffle.
and top it off the theremin moog is there!! unreal ! lots of money!!
I have alot of envy for this , but  thought this is bonamental!!! I wish i had all the gear and Joe is my idol but this is way too much , fair play if you can afford it and want it , but do you not find it crazy? after watching this i thought to myself im gonna borrow  joes style and gear ideas ,but im gonna use different amps different cabs and be myself!!
Its always good to have your idols gear but i think it doesnt help, as you will be on stage and one or two people will be like"this person is doing a tribute or somthing".
see what you think!

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

This might be just me...but I was expecting a bit more...
Not enough groove going on there.

There certainly might be a lot of money flying around that room, yet it's amazing what sound you get from Joe playing a couple of rented DSLs...  roll

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Steve, please don't shout  when you give a title to your posts  wink

I am of a delicate disposition and all those capital letters is just too much  roll

im sorry i will tone it down i am a loud person!!  so is my amp!!

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Small world, I had a guy PM me on my youtube account regarding my tone and amp setup.  He said he was setting up a rig for his boy with a Carol Ann JB100, EVH 5150III, Category 5 JB100, and Silver Jubilee 2555 and wanted some advice.  Well that MUST be him!  Yes lots of money in that room but it's all relative.  Plenty of guys on here have very JB -like setups but don't go THAT far into it probably due to budget reasons more than anything.  He's a great player and has a great sound albeit not his...

For every original guitarist (Hendrix, Page, Clapton, EJ, JB, Beck, EVH, Yngwie, Satch, Vai) there will always be someone out there that tries to be him.  Most of us have been there and it's really fun, but eventually for me it gets stale and I move on to another influence.  He's very young an no doubt will grow as a player and being that he's an obvious rig nut he'll probably change gear accordingly.

So in short, great player, great chops, great gear.  BTW the guitarist in question's name is "Steve" and the OP is "stevebonamassive" .......hmmmmm

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

If you have the brass and are that into Joe's tone then fair play. For me I would need to remortgage my house to have a rig like that. My class 5 and pedals seem like childs play compared to that. Interesting letter in guitarist magazine this month where a guy once took Hendrix to hospital in a cab. He asked Hendrix for some guitar playing advice and Hendrix replied, If I taught you everything I know you'd just sound like me, find your own style. Or words to that affect.

Great tone though on the vid.

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

lol The dude can play. But I can't understand the drift here: he's not gonna be able to use that rig outside that room. He's buying stuff like Joe but he's not known yet! Imagine how much time and money Joe saved until he could afford his current rig! It's ridiculous!

Can you fancy that guy getting inside a bar and asking the owner: can I bring my stuff? Imagine the owner's face when he unloads that rig...  yikes  yikes  yikes  mad  mad  mad

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Love it. Wish I had the room to have a band room like that!
Forget the guitar player (we're a dime a dozen), that drummer kick a$$!!!!

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Saw some other videos on their channel...say what you will, they can play.

Guys my hole point of this was to see what you thought if you had all that gear , and how crazy and cool it actually is
i havent said its not a good clip i think its great and i envy it , but seeing it made me think " i will take joes style and gear ideas but i will try and be myself " with it ",  The lad in the clip is gonna be good if hes keeps it up and will have alot of knowlage about real tone very early!!!(if not already)
i thought it was an intresting subject! tongue

This clip was on that Youtube channel. Watch this the kid can play. If he could sing too he could do a JB tribute band he nails the licks.

The kid is Steve Costello from Canada. He and his dad Sean are big fans. Steve sold the most CD's in the affiliate contest and won the trip to the RAH and yes he idolizes Joe maybe to an extreme to the point of an exact replica of his set up. I love it. Imitation is the sicerest form of flattery or something like that. His dad backs him 100% and there is nothing wrong with that. Someday he will find his own thing but if not I'd go see him play some JB covers.

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Guys this is all very well but it's the road to 'Nowhereville' as far as this kid's own musical progress goes.  sad

What his parents or anyone else buys him is none of mine or anyone elses business, but someone should be pointing this kid in the way of finding his own sound. He can play, granted but where would JB be if he just stuck with Mr Clapton's Les Paul and JTM 45 combo set up of the Beano years? Most likely still playing the hell out of the guitar but we wouldn't be talking endlessly about his tone and set up on forums that's for sure!

My guess is this kid will get bored, break it all down in a few months and either go real simple and find his own voice or just move on to his 'next' hero's gear.

Guitars: 95 Les Paul Standard, Relic Strat,
Amps: 1973 Marshall JMP 50 head and Vintage Modern Cab. I use no effects other than a Cry Baby on occasions.

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

If he (or his father) can afford to buy that gear, and he enjoys making music with it, then I say more power to him. With that rig, he certainly can vary his tonal palette at any time as he matures and finds "his style." I hope his Dad sprung for some roadies, though!

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

cannot wait for those kids to develop a personality of their own.  otherwise, very good copy.

***Just realized I sounded harsh... my bad.  What I meant to say was that there is promise there.  We are all guilty of trying to copy tones, eventually to realize that no matter what, we develop our own!  Keep the pursuit of tone alive.

I agree, though I also agree that he/they need to find their own sound too. They look young, so they probably will.

Other than that, was it just me or was that rig a bit of overkill for a sports bar?

Re: YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, The Joe copy was ok I guess although I am really against trying to copy anyones sound.  Not that we all dont take tips and hints and ideas and incorporate them into our own rigs, but playing thru Joes rig is kid of like driving a porshe your daddy just bought you to a lower middle class high school.  Sure if your daddy can afford it and your having fun then why not.  Ehhhh.  Joe can get away with a huge crazy rig because he earned it and built it up over the years.  Playing a sports bar with a huge rig that costs 20,000 bucks is a little ballsy, especially when no one knows or cares who you are yet.

Machine Gun on the other hand was a bad **** song cover.  I may start playing that with my group.  I watched that and was blown away.  He would have sounded awsome with a twin and a good overdrive pedal too.

I liked the Trussard he was playing in that video.
