Hi Ian, thanks for the vids and observations.
I don't think there is any need to fear posting personal comment that invites discussion and debate. Like you I've been waiting for a new thread devoted to more discussion. When I want just reports I know where to go.
As for your observations, I suppose it stands to reason. The press get treated well otherwise they unfairly start a campaign or negative vendetta against individuals or clubs that don't treat them with the 'respect' they think they deserve.
Personally I would take the SirAlex/BBC attitude and treat them with the contempt they deserve mostly. Of course, you do then have to lead a 'whiter than white'life.
Lawrensen aversion to eating perhaps goes some way to explaining his dour and negative attitude most of the time. Perhaps the bloke just isn't happy.
Interested in the comments about Chelsea. Is that the effect of 'expectation' I wonder? It weighs so heavily on the clubs and fans it seems to me. Through a friend and customer, a few years back, I was semi regular visitor to Old Trafford. The chat before a game was so miserable. Despite the years of success and enough trophies to dam the Ship Canal there was just the continuing worry of being able to keep winning, and the team would never be as good as 'that year' or 'this year'. Ferguson is all knowing when they win, and a chump when they lose. Actually, I felt most don't credit him with nearly enough for the success the have had.
Spurs should enjoy their chance this year. The reality is that in making the CL this year and progressing, they may possibly undermine their chances to do it again. Wenger predicted a couple of years ago he would need 2 teams in the future to keep both campaigns on track. How crazy is that?
Still with Everton starting so badly, Villa only just getting back on track, Liverpool completely in the doldrums then the only real competition for a 4th spot this year is surely City? Maybe 'Arry can work the miracle. But then so begins your cycle of success and miserable expectation
Van der Vaart IS a bargain
Ashley Cole? England's best player at the last World Cup. Says it all really?
Gareth Bale, when played in the right position is superb.
Fact is 'Arry is the right man at the right time for Spurs. I hope the fickle fans there let it all unfold the way it should. Get rid of King and Woodgate off the wagebill, bring in some great new talent at the back and maybe, just maybe, that happy atmosphere could hang around, well, for a little while at least............
