Re: Some Forum Prayers

Michael, I am so sorry to hear this news. I feel for you. I was where you are now back in May last year when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. You'll learn pretty quickly that there are different types of breast cancer and different treatments according to what the doctors find. So don't assume the worst. As you get to know more about exactly how it's affecting your mum you'll be able to focus on each stage of the treatment. Then as each stage is completed you can move on to the next knowing that you're making progress. It's a tough road you're on and your mum will need you but I've met many women during our numerous hospital visits who have got through it and are leading normal lives again. Mercifully, that includes my wife. If you need to talk you have my mobile number or email me if you prefer.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Hi Michael,

First off let me say how sorry I am to hear of your Mum’s diagnosis and I truly hope that the outcome is a positive one. Secondly, I don’t think I can add much that hasn’t already been said by our Buddies on this thread. There are many here who’ve been through similar situations with loved ones and come out the other side. I’m a believer in the power of positive thought and I hope that the love and thoughts of the forum members, some of whom you know very well, will give you strength.

Jim’s right, we are Bonafamily.

Tell your Mum we're all rooting for her and sending positive vibes and prayers.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Hi Michael,
Really sorry to hear your news and feel for your mum and you.  I well remember Maureen from the day I 'popped in' for tea and cake and she made me so welcome.  Like other forum friends I have experienced the journey second hand with two close friends who coped and came out the other side with a bravery that has left me very humbled.  If talking helps you have my number - any time.
Love

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Firstly I want to thank you all so much, Really i mean that
i thought i might not air this post for obvious reasons and sharing something so emotional, the alternative i guess was keeping it bottled up with no communication.
I read all the replies and found as i was reading them, i felt myself all choked up by the true compassion and wise advice, it was an emotional read, so many heartfelt stories by many of you who have been through similar episodes in their lives, the advice was beautifully overwhelming and i passed it on to my mum
i should have known really that only this close knit core of fans here would come up with a reply like those marvellous individual post replies
i love you all and thank you very much, i felt it for my mum

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Glad we can help you & Mum out mate. Please keep us posted on her progress. As I found out many people around you & her will share their experiences with you, but as my Dr. told me, every case is unique unto itself. Try to maintain as much normalcy for her as possible and fight the good fight. Regardless of which stage she's at there is always hope. I have a friend here in town who was @ stage 4(breast cancer) and things appeared very bleak for Denise, but she wouldn't give up and is now in remission back @ work and living a normal life again. We're with you all the way amigo.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

My thoughts are with you Michael. Three of my four blood relative aunts and uncles have got cancer, two of which diagnosed within the last month. That's bad, yet it must be so much worse when it's your own parent. As has already been written so well by others I wish you and her the the best. Take care, Duncan

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Hi Michael,

I am sorry to read this news about your mom.  As Rocket says, Keep the Faith, cancer is a frightening thing, but it is not a death sentence as it once was labeled.  My mom also was diagnosed with breast cancer at about 75 and she is 81 and a half now and doing fine.  Like you, I was surprised to learn that their age was not out of the norm.  My mom was in good hands as my sister is a Physician's Assistant for a breast cancer specialist in Florida.  Do NOT hesitate to contact me if you want to run some things by my sis and her boss.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Hi Michael

Just want to add my sympathies and to say my thoughts are with you.  It's not easy but you have to be strong for your mum, even when she feels like giving in.  She may be your mum but she feels like part of our Bona-family too.

I know in the past here on the forum there has been some stories that have pulled together the Bonafamily and helped
Namely J Dawg, Big Jeff, Shredit and Roy has loved ones too and Cathy and Patty too plus others
I too have recently received some usetting news, my mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer, this has come as a complete shock as you don't ever expect your mum who at 75, i thought was way passed anything like that
until you recieve news like that, you're never prepared for it, especially when you think it's the person you've known more then any other in your life.  i'm lost and don't know which way to turn at the moment and what to say, it's at times like this that i wished i had a sister, but i know i gotta be strong for her as there are no immediate family close by.
many of you on here have met her (maureen) infact Bill S was sat next to her at RAH, She even went to Cocoon but left soon as it was late and a long day, never forget i asked her after RAH what she thought of it expecting a "it was too loud" answer, but she said with a smile "it was beautiful"
anyway thought i'd come on here to let out a bit
I'm praying there is a chance of a turn around and it is treatable
just thought i'd share as some of my closest friends ever are here and Shred, J Dawg Jeff (they're tough rock n roll blues guys anyways"
Roy Patty Cathy George and many others have got through times, i'm hoping my mum can too

Michael

Michael, I have lost members of my family to the 'Big C'.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your Mum sounds like a tuff cookie. Be strong and positive. The will to survive is the most important thing. Take as much of my strength as you need. Use me as a leaning post any time you want.
