Topic: Some Forum Prayers

I know in the past here on the forum there has been some stories that have pulled together the Bonafamily and helped
Namely J Dawg, Big Jeff, Shredit and Roy has loved ones too and Cathy and Patty too plus others
I too have recently received some usetting news, my mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer, this has come as a complete shock as you don't ever expect your mum who at 75, i thought was way passed anything like that
until you recieve news like that, you're never prepared for it, especially when you think it's the person you've known more then any other in your life.  i'm lost and don't know which way to turn at the moment and what to say, it's at times like this that i wished i had a sister, but i know i gotta be strong for her as there are no immediate family close by.
many of you on here have met her (maureen) infact Bill S was sat next to her at RAH, She even went to Cocoon but left soon as it was late and a long day, never forget i asked her after RAH what she thought of it expecting a "it was too loud" answer, but she said with a smile "it was beautiful"
anyway thought i'd come on here to let out a bit
I'm praying there is a chance of a turn around and it is treatable
just thought i'd share as some of my closest friends ever are here and Shred, J Dawg Jeff (they're tough rock n roll blues guys anyways"
Roy Patty Cathy George and many others have got through times, i'm hoping my mum can too

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Michael my thoughts and prayers are with you & Mum. Be strong and follow what her medical teams course of action may be. Keep things positive and remember, failure is not an option. We all take life for granted till we are put to a test like this, so give it your best shot, it's all one can do. Take care my "Blues brother".

Re: Some Forum Prayers

We will keep your mother in our prayers, and know that you have a lot of support here, many people to lean on. My son's mother (my ex) was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago. She has been through the ringer with chemo and hormone treatments, and now may start radiation in the next month or so. The last ultrasound a couple weeks ago showed the tumor was almost non-existant, in other words they know it is not gone completely but is definitely in remission. She is a real fighter, I should know. I wish this same spirit for your mum, a no give up attitude. Thanks to ESPN, I'm always reminded of Jimmy V's speech - "Don't ever give up, never give up."

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Hi Michael, my thoughts and best wishes to you and your mother as you navigate your way through a difficult time.  Just know that hope and positive thinking can help in the battle.
My dad had cancer of the esophogus and under went chemo and radiation and beat it.  He opted out on any surgery since it was radicallly invasive and at 73 didn't feel it was best for him.  He is in remission now and doing fine.  Anyway, just be there for your mom whenever you can and we will be here for you.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Michael, Quite obviously you and your mum are in my thoughts and prayers.
She sure is a very sweet lady, based on the little we talked at the RAH show, and I can see why you turned out the way you did. I looked over at her a few times during that show and she seemed to be enjoying herself.
Prayers can work miracles and there will be many directed your way.
As has been said already, stay positive..stay strong.

Peace.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Well Michael,

You may not have a sister, but you know you have a brother in me. I've been worried about you, because it's been a while since I've heard a peep from you. Now I know why. Needless to say, the entire Ebert family....Dawn, Sarah, Ben, Goldie and me will be sending prayers and thoughts for both you and your mum.

Now, a word from your older brother. Yes, you need to be strong for your mom at this time. She's the one person in this world that knows you better than anyone else and would stand behind you when others would leave. Keep her close to your heart and know that we are all pulling for her here. Also know this; my mom had a breast removed at age 70 due to cancer and lived a full and rich life living to just shy of 87. How you ask? Because she had the love and prayers of not only family, but many friends, as you and your mom do now.

If times get too rough and you need someone to talk to, you know my number and please feel free to call me, day or night.

Love ya Bro,

Roy

Joe is the Best!

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Hi Michael, my mom went through a cancer ordeal about 10 years ago and came through it fine; and she will be celebrating her 80th birthday this autumn. Keep a positive mental outlook and hope for the best! Spend as much quality time with her as you can in case things turn out for the worst. I lost my dad a few years ago and miss the old guy terribly - I now wish that I could have made a few more visits in those final days. Put your faith in the doctors and the almighty that she will pull through! Peace and strength my friend!  smile

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Michael - Breast cancer as you well know is serious business, but for someone your Mother's age the prognosis is much better due to lower hormone levels in women past 50.  My wife works with cancer patients and that is what she's always told me.  The greater risk is with younger women.  The same principle applies to men with prostrate cancer.  I'll pray for your Mom's recovery and hang in there.

That's pretty much what I would have said too. I'm thinking of you and your mum, Mikey, you know I"m here for you for whatever you might need. You know only too well how this news hits me in particular.  sad

Hang in there, all of you, it may not be as horrific as you fear.

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Dear Michael,
I know the word cancer sets off alarms, but I want you to take a deep breath. Knowledge is power. I agree with Curby. It's not likely estrogen driven, which is a good thing. The next step is to identify it (biopsy)  and to "stage" it, which is using biopsied samples from tissue and lymph nodes surrounding the breast tissue. Scary stuff, I know, but this is war. That information will help her medical team devise the best plan of treatment. Then the onus will be on you to get on-line and learn all you can.
People survive breast cancer, so one day at a time. For now the best thing you can do is help her be as fit as possible. Good nutrition, mod. exercise...take her for a walk...Fill her with love and happy memoirs. Plan an adventure for after treatment. Keep that conversation going through out.
You know I'm available 24/7 phone or e-mail...I understand about Mom's...it's tough when they're gone... The cancer is there and the good news is it's been discovered. You're never alone..we are your extended family and we love you! I will do my best to ask the Universe, and The Wing, to be with you!!  Sister Cate

Re: Some Forum Prayers

Whoa. I have two short prayers.  They're for tuff guys.   wink

1) Trust God.  Clean house. Help family.
2) Thy will, not mine, be done.

Even with staples in our heads and necks we are grateful, even for what led us here.  Once the initial shock wears off, and after we want explanations, we want solutions.  Prayer works and I am not religious.  I'm talking about LOVE.

You're a red blooded man.  Love conquers all.

One thing nobody talks about is nutrition.  Diet and vitamins.  One of the things that healed me from both that thing growing in my Knee (many years ago) and my atypical tumor condition, even after they said they got it all, was/is a very high quality (salmon quality, NOT sardines) fish oil in mass quantities and a very good multi vite with lots of water...so I could have expensive urine.  roll  Well that's what one doc said.

He's quiet now.  smile   So we pray for the strength that love gives us.  We pray that Mo knows she is loved.  And we pray that now you KNOW that you did the right thing coming to us...all of us.  With this love you will declare war and repel the invaders  cool

Michael, I wish nothing but the best for you, your mom, and your family. No one deserves to go through this. Plenty of people make it, and your mom sounds like a fighter. Stay strong.  smile -hug-
