That would be like rolling around in ground beef  then stuffing some in your pockets and then walking into the lions den. Did the jersey remain intact?

After they jeered and drowned him in beer, they made him take it off and go buy a Raiders jersey before he could return. I still don't think he has forgiven my BIL.  wink

Bill,
As long as Cinderella is off the ice by midnight, the Flyers have a chance...  wink

It seems we only met up once during regular season...regardless of that win, we are not favored to win the Cup.

Angela,
Odds are for betting purposes and can be thrown out in a series like this.
I do need to thank Philadelphia for coming back and winning that game...it was part of the reason Huet was ultimately benched in favor of Niemi.

Being from Chicago, the natural reaction to losing two straight road games and having the series knotted at 2-2, is to have heart palpitations and to start second guessing a team that has been fairly dominant all year. So glad to see that team return last night and take this series by the throat, with one of the most one sided first periods you'll ever see! If they bring that game with them to Philly, it'll be Good night Flyers!
Go Hawks!!!!

Being from Philadelphia, the natural reaction is...I can't believe we got here on a shoot-out with the Rangers....  big_smile  I  tuned into the business news channel to check the market yesterday and what were they talking about???  The increased viewing of the playoffs (up 54%) and the rise in purchases of merchandise for the Stanley Cup playoff teams.  So, our good old cities have lots of dedicated fans, old and new that are stimulating the economy.  smile  Since your drought is way longer than ours, there will be no hard feelings Bill if you guys win, but in case you haven't noticed, the Flyers aren't going down without a fight. Also, I'm blaming that lost on my daughter, she got the Blackhawks theme song stuck in her head and kept singing it, it is very catchy!!  I thought the flyers took the goalie out too soon, but my son says no...Check out this this site, interesting marketing...I just bought these fly t-shirts for my family that moved to Florida. http://philavania.com/  And a Chicago sidenote...have you ever been to the Drake hotel?  If so is it worth a visit, I keep noticing it in your skyline?  I love old architecture etc. Philly also had an old Drake.

The Drake is a fine hotel and would be worth a look inside. It's been awhile since I've been in there. The other hotel that might be worth checking out is the Palmer House. Recently renovated, tons of history, and worth the price of admission (free!).
Back to hockey: I've watched enough hockey to know this ain't over, but I feel good knowing the Hawks brought out their "A" game in the first period on Sunday. I don't think pulling the goalie had anything to do with his play, it had to do with trying to spark his team.  I'd bet good money Leighton will be starting in game 6.
I'm also wondering if Laviolette is ever going to give the Hawks any credit...he has some nerve whining about the lack of penalty calls in game 5...the worm finally turned and he doesn't like it!

Re: Hockey Fans???

Bill- about the goalie...I meant at the end when we were down 2 points and they went w/ an empty net and Chicago scored the 7th, not after the first period,  I agreed with that move.  I'll have to read up on Coach Lav., the only thing I heard was him taking a question about who will be the goalie, which he didn't answer.  But yes, I agree with you, I think it will be Leighton.

edited to add...I guess maybe the whining was about the hit to Briere.  Story under the Conan photo...

Re: Hockey Fans???

I watched a repeat of the last game without commercials! That was sweet. The Hawk's first period was awesome. I particularly liked how the guy whose name is pronounced completely differently to how it's spelled, was putting himself about. I subsequently discovered that he's 6'4 and 250 lbs.  lol

Why was one of the Flyers always getting booed?

Hell of a game to watch!  cool

Hammer, that Hawks guy's name is Byfuglien, pronounced "Bufflin"...how the hell you get Bufflin out of that spelling is beyond my comprehension.
The Philadelphia villain who has been crosschecking and elbowing with impunity (hence the boos) until game 5, goes by the name of Chris Pronger. He's 6'-6", 220 lbs, has been playing for 15 years, is a future Hall of Famer, has loads of dirty tricks up his sleeve....and seems to get away with almost all of them.

Down two goals in a pivotal game, you really have no choice. Waiting until there is only a minute left is ok if you are down a goal, but much too late when you are down by two.
