I've got 'em, course I have. Loads of them, hundreds in fact as I am sure many others my age and younger on here will have.
Only half what it should be as my less than enlightened mother took it upon herself to flog almost half of them whilst I was away from home somewhere. Our relationship still bears the scars to this day.
I know what you mean about the touching, feeling...and reading sensation. Huge gatefold jobs with acres of pictures.
I used to spend lietrally DAYS in my local record store just going through everything, so much so I began working there.
He started importing lots of stuff from the US so I have rare singles by ELP on Cotillion and other daft stuff like that. I've got one by Grand Funk Railroad where the B-side is 33rpm.
But despite all that and having a wonderful deck to play them on, I just detest getting up everything 20 minutes or so to change them over.
I will concede though that when I take the time and trouble to do it, the listening experience takes me to another place, where I was younger, with longer hair and with so much time in front of me to make the mistakes that I eventually made.
We don't have a thread for it yet but if there was one for "the latest vinyl you've listened to it would be Focus 'Moving Waves'. I'm going to try and remember or find out which was the last piece of vinyl I ever bought. That should date me properly. Now where's my 'Lamb lies down on Broadway...........'
