Well Roadshow has already posted the unbelievable set list...It seemed that Joe and the band exhibited great energy on every single one of the songs...
This was a big night for Sharon and I...Sharon and I travelled from Dayton to see the show with my brother, sister-in-law, 3 nieces and our great grand neice who all live in Oklahoma...Yep, 3 generations of Bonamassa fans...A special thanks to Jim Moody for his hospitality...We were able to talk to Joe, get some autographs and some great photos thanks to Jim...
Also congratulations to Jim for getting a nice shout out from Joe during the show...
I would guess 2,000+ fans who warmly welcomed the way Joe weaved his way through so many different styles during the songs in this setlist...It seemed to me that Joe's diversity has flourished to the point that every song now seems to be a stand alone as to style...
According to our memory, this was our 17th time we've seen Joe and band...We have now seen him in Dayton, Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Covington, KY, RAH and now OKC...Like so many of us say when we do a review of a show, "We have never seen Joe perform any better!" He definately seems to raise the bar on every leg of his tours. He was flawless again last night and his voice has never sounded better...
I found that my favorite songs changed a bit at this show...
If Heartaches Were Nickels - Joe did the best rendition of this song that I have ever heard...He got a standing O from me very early...This song is absolutly beautiful and Joe really put his heart into it...
Lonesome Road Blues - Absolutely rocked after a beautiful version of Sloe Gin...
Happier Times - Emotional and beautiful...and can Bogie play the drums any better than he does in this song?...
Blue and Evil, 3 Times a Fool and Bird On A Wire - Joe seemed to really like playing his new material from Black Rock...And really appreciated the responses that he got from the audience...His biggest smiles and satisfaction seemed to come after he completed these 3 new songs...
Blues Deluxe - Trademark Joe...And it keeps getting better!...
Young Man Blues - Being a big THE WHO fan, I was dying to see how Joe would cover this song...He absolutely killed it...I wish Pete Townsend could see Joe play this one...
Woke Up Dreaming - Still another version with new twists...Can anyone play an accoustic guitar this fast and this flawlessly?...We all got a "shhh" during one of the quieter and more intricate part of the song...But, it seemed to come at a new section of the guitar playing...
Bird On A Wire - I came away as this being my favorite song of the night...Joe voice is absolutely beautiful during this song...And the way the crew made the lights change, made it almost surreal to me...Beautiful, beautiful song and a great 1st song in the encore...
OK...everybody stand up and lets close things out with Just Got Paid...Bogie again was on fire...
Finally, I would like to commend the light crew...The lights were fabulous and seemed to me to be better than the past...The lights changed up with every song and added to the diversity of Joe's setlist...
Joe, Bogie, Rick and Carmine...Thanks again for more memories...Your fans love the way that you guys give 300%+ at each one of the stops on your tours...
Thanks also for making this such a great day for my family...
We'll see you again on May 2nd at the Victoria...
The Other Joe B.
