Re: "Live long and prosper"

All I know George is that our beloved club could do with a couple of new Dilithium Crystals because as a long suffering fan....

"I just cannae take it" (my engines that is!)

Can't remember all the episodes I loved of this series and I watched most of them and the films but the only thing I can ever picture in my mind anymore is that wonderful Borg Princess 7 of Nine.

Resistance is futile. What a Borg Babe

7 of 9? More like 10 of 10. And Janeway! Sultry Beauty. The series was a launching pad for sexy stars. I'm sure there were more than a few hunks for the ladies too. Who cared if the plot wavered? Assimilate me.....please!

Here are some dilithium rechargers.

Re: "Live long and prosper"

Me and the missus are Star Trek fans, too (not wearing pointy ears or Klingon foreheads). I still remember watching the original series as a little boy. That was a real highlight for me, then.

RiverCat: Your post made me remember how often I discussed the philosophical aspects of many ST episodes with my wife and my friend. smile Wow, that sounds rather highbrow - but you know what I mean... wink
Amsterhammer: Yes, Troy's Mother was funny and embarrassing at the same time.  lol  I loved "The Inner Light" episode, too. In the end, Picard gets to keep the flute that he played in his "alternate life" IIRC...

My favorite ST series: Deep Space 9.
The first season was a little boring. More like a soap opera or crime series on a space station. But then the series really took off. When the Dominion and the Jem Hadar entered the scene it got extremely thrilling.
What I like most about DS9 are the characters. They are really different from each other. There are not only "good guys". Look at Garak or Quark or Gul Dukat for example. In the other series there was a little too much political correctness for my taste. Everybody was so honest and trustworthy. I hope I'm not hurting anybody's feelings - just my personal taste. yikes Not that I didn't like the other series! I'm shure I watched at least 90% of the TNG and Voyager episodes... smile

My favorite ST movie: First contact.
Yes, I like it a little darker. smile  Why was there never a movie with the DS9 crew?!??

My favorite episode: The "Tribbles"-crossover (DS9 characters timetravelling to visit Kirk + co. in the original "Tribbles"-episode).
Great! "Whorf, why do these other Klingons look so different from you?" - "That's a long story..."  lol

My favorite Captain: Picard.
That guy really has style.

Favorite characters: the Holo-Doc (!), Garak, Q, Scotty, Data, Picard, Chief O'Brien, the Duras sisters , Sisco, the Borg, 7of9!

Kaplah!

P.S. 1: "Galaxy Quest" (with Tim Taylor and Sigorney Weaver) is a movie that makes me laugh again and again. Lots of funny allusions to Star Trek. If you haven't seen it...

P.S. 2: A SciFi series I really like is "Firefly". Lots of unique characters. Too bad they cancelled it after (not even) one season. It's like a Western series in space. Be warned: There are no aliens in this series.

Re: "Live long and prosper"

Found this thread and thought I'd bring it forward again.

Yes, I am a trekkie.

In the late 60' we used to get the soda and popcorn ready to watch the original series, on Wed night I believe. (Oops, showing my age)

Watched TNG quite a bit and exposed our youngest to being a trekkie but did not come on strong until the last movie with Chris Pine.  She is a huge fan of his and that movie brought in a whole new generation of trekkies.  Looking far forward to the next one in 2012.

I noticed that Voyager is being run on Spike recently so we have been watching it again.  Watched DS9 but was not a big fan of that one.

Re: "Live long and prosper"

How cool to have this reappear after so long!  big_smile

Always glad to see another one come out of the closet.  tongue

Last year, during visits on both sides of the Atlantic, Cathy and I worked our way through all five seasons of Babylon 5, the only other 'space' series apart from Trek that I ever got into. Anyone else here ever a fan? The first captain's acting ability was akin to a log, but things got better with Bruce Boxleitner and his relationship with Delenn, though my favorite characters were Lando and, most of all, G'kar.

But, in all of space, there was only one 7 of 9 who was, as I think Rick said, really a 10 of 10.  tongue

For the record, the Star Trek sequel is due out in 2012, the same summer as the sequel the Dark Knight, and The Avengers. What an awesome year that will be, unless the whole world comes to an end.  tongue
