Topic: Riverside show
What a night!! We got to do the meet and greet with Joe he signed my pickguard from my 50th anniversary LP took some pix and yaked it up a bit with us. One heck of a nice guy very humble freindly and accomadating. The show was fantastic he played his you know what off! The last song was with Jason Bonham, Glenn Hughes and I didnt catch the keyboard players name. The song was a good rocker was real neat to see Jason being a big fan of his dad John.
My only critque would be and this a matter of taste was Glen Hughes over use of his screaming falsettos. They were over the top and just too much.... didnt work for me at all. Honestly I felt it hurt the song, many others in the crowd echoed the same sentiment. While his style worked for Deep Purple alas those days are gone. I much prefer Joes singing to Glenns over use of his screaming falsettos anyday. Advice to Glen..... buddy its 2010 not the1970's and your playing with Bonamassa not Purple.... time to move on.....grow...... expand your horizons, your falsetto is great if used tastefully. Actually Joe can and will do better than this guy....unless Glenn just sticks to Bass playing and some backing vocals......way back .........YMMV
That said it that didnt diminish the pleasure of two hours of Joe masterfully doing what he does best. Thank you again to Roger and especially Joe for their kindness and making this a wonderful night for my wife and I. Oh and I loved the tone he wrenched out of his red 355 gibby. The man is amazing!!!
