STOP! In the name of love
Before you break my heart
Rescue me
Oh take me in your arms
Rescue me
I want your tender charms
'Coz I'm lonely and I'm blue
I need you and your love too

Angela,
You're opening a can of worms this morning. "Stop! In the Name of Love" - The Supremes and "Rescue Me" from the gifted Fontella Bass. I loved (and still do) all the great soul artists as a child and your mention reminds me to make a playlist of Sixties soul. Good stuff!
Curby,
Can I have a copy when you're done? Just absolutely love it too!
If you do want me, gimme little sugar
If you don't want me, don't lead me on girl
But if you need me, show me that you love me
And when I'm feeling blue and I want you
There's just one thing that you should do
I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Wiener
(sorry I just can't get the name out of my head)
I actually knew Little Oscar in my teens. He was a regular member of the cruising hot rod gang. He had a cool 55 Chevy with a booster seat and flames on the hood. He made good money driving the Wienermobile around to events in Southern California.

Rick,
Funny, the forum is a source of humor, good for a Monday morning. Its always funny when a song gets stuck in your head.
I got this stuck in my head from Shemekia Copeland...I Always Get My Man
Don't try to run, don't try to hide
I've got a better tracking system than the FBI
I'll hunt you down, bring you in
and that's when the fun is gonna begin

Ahhhh Angela that's so old school and I love it. Until the Beatles landed I thought Motown was it when it came to music that moved me.

A big Monday smile on my face contemplating your lyrics.

No problem. I'll send you the old stuff and maybe some more modern soul. Have you listened to James Douglas Show? Their album The New Black is shweet. Here's a vid of them honoring their idols - betcha can't sit still listening to it.

"The Radiator says 95, But i ain't felt a drop of heat all night
Here in this motel there's no tellin' me nothin'
I come here 5 nights a week, to clean the toilets and change these sheets
My names Maggie Durrant, baby ain't that something"

A little OT (off-topic) but I've got tickets to see her in VA at the same place as one of my favorite Joe shows (Barns of Wolftrap) on 3/28. I saw her to do the "vocal away from the mike" thing before Joe and she's got the pipes to back it up. I want our band to do "It's 2 AM (Do You Know Where Your Baby Is?)" and my singer wants to do "Cold Feet".
Seen her at a couple of blues festivals and to quote Randy Jackson..."she can blow".

Curby,
I never even heard of the James Douglas Show, they sound great!! I'll be checking them out more and thanks for the offer. I discovered another band yesterday I also never heard of, although I'm sure the California boys on here know of her since she's appeared with Tommy Castro and also Bonnie Raitt and she's based in Cali.

Hey Carl,
If your band covers Shemekia, be sure to post it. I remember now you saying you liked her before.
Backstroke lover always hidin' the covers
Til I talked to your daddy he say
He said you ain't seen nothin' til you're down on a muffin
Then you're sure to be a changin' your way
I met a cheerleader was a real young bleeder
Oh the times I could be reminisce
Cause the best things of lovin' with her sister and her cousin
Only started with a kiss
A like this

Lots of good ones here, I like the Zappa and Lou Reed. I don't think it was an opening lyric, stuck in my head nonetheless is "I remember doot doot, I remember doot doot, they had a swimming pool", also Zappa at some point. I cannot list the whole paragraph here, however it is safe to say that Les Claypool is a great bass player and not such a great lyricist -
"My name is Mud"
just been reminded of some great Zappa lyrics; Valley Girl, "like oh my god! Fer sure! Gag me with a spoon"...
