'I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand.
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain.'
One of the best opening lyrics to a song. My opinion anyway.

Hi Jeff, what artist and track is that from ?
This is what i first though of....
Hay, hay, mama, said the way you move,
gon' make you sweat, gon' make you groove.
It goes on....
Ah -ah child way you shake that thing,
gon' make you burn, gon' make you sting.
Hey hey baby when you walk that way,
watch your honey drip, can't stay away.
~ Black Dog - Led Zeppelin ~

So Loooooooong, how I hate to see you go...
So Loooooooong, how I hate to see you go...
and the way I'm gonna miss you
Darling you'll never know
Good day sunshine...
Rick
This qualifies for best opening and best closing at the same time:
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl but she doesn't have a lot to say
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl but she changes from day to day
I wanna tell her that I love her a lot but I gotta get a bellyful of wine
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl some day I'm gonna make her mine, oh yeah
Some day I'm gonna make her mine

"Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly"
So simple yet so good.

That would be "Werewolves of London". Brack - That's Warren Zevon off his Excitable Boy album.
Here's mine...
I'm an alligator, I'm a mama-papa coming for you
I'm the space invader, I'll be a rock 'n' rolling #@$@# for you
Keep your mouth shut
your squawking like a pink monkey bird
And I'm busting my brains for the words....
This song came off one of the greatest albums ever produced and every song on it could be included in this thread. Anyone care to guess and comment?
Got to agree with this
Warren Zevon Werewolves of London - he was years ahead with this when it was released.

They tend to be from songs that stir some inner feelings, so much so that the very first notes, let alone line of text, tweaks at the memory reminding you of the pleasure to come.
On that basis:
1. " If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"
2. " I come from down in the valley, where Mister, when you're young"
3. " I can tell by your eyes that you've probably been crying forever"
4. " Cats foot, Iron claw, neuro surgeons scream for more"
It certainly dates me anyway. Nothing here after 1975
"I've been drivin' all night, my hand's wet on the wheel".....
Golden Earring "Radar Love"

David Bowie from Ziggy Stardust...
I asked my wife about this and she came up with one I could not better:
If I get to Heaven
The first thing I'll do
before I meet my Maker
I'm gonna ask around for you

Mr. Bonamassa's "Asking Around For You".
Serves me right to suffer.
I pulled into Nazereth, was feelin 'bout half-past dead.
