Who reads the Rolling Stone?!

Ahh, mi estudiante favorita, I started reading Rolling Stone back when it was still based in San Francisco and was printed on newspaper folded in half and cost about $.25 (circa '66/'67). Believe it or not it was originally pretty much devoted to music & musicians. Then Jann Wenner moved it to NYC and they became ever more political and a slave to fashion advertising. Annie Liebovitz's cover shots are legendary as decreed by Dr. Hooks Medicine Show anthem, "Oh the thrill it'll gitcha when you git yer pictcha on the cover of the Rolling Stone". Another milestone we'd like to see Joe achieve. There's no need to subscribe to it ever since I wrote an e-mail to the editors about Joe I get it online every week.

I believe Dean's thread was what lead me to the RS online script, but how does the Peter Gabriel video tie in??????

This is a magazine that puts Britney Spears and the Jonas Brothers on the cover. It was a once great mag that is now a joke.

They cover popular music.  Always have.  If good music was popular, you'd see it on the cover.

Re: Rolling Stone

SHOCKER!!! Jimi is in first... will that ever change? He was probably the most influential, but the best? Kossof, Clapton, Joe, and SRV were/are all better IMO. I think most people are afraid to take him out of first place...... he's a given for 1st place in any list.

That pole was published in 2003, but i guess, Jimi would still come out on top today.

Re: Rolling Stone

Jimi was truly revolutionary and evolutionary. There's no denying that. I still think he's one of the best. His playing still stacks up against anyone that has come since. My favorite will always be SRV, but that will always give way to Hendrix when it comes to talking about the most influential.

That list sucks. Rolling Stone sucks.

*Coinkydink*  I posted a comment under my angel nickname and another Angela posted a couple minutes before me.  There is a delayed screening I think for foul language, so my post showed up later.

If you read Clapton's biography you'll understand what I'm saying.   Clapton has covered SO MANY ROADS, maybe burnt down some bridges of friendships with drug and alcohol abuse, so I just find it fascinating how some of his musical relationships are coming together again.
