Topic: Screwed by a Blues Deville at a gig Thursday.
Man alive I hate those amps! We go to this bar that has a stage setup that all you do is plug into his stuff, really nice equipment. Anyway nomally he has a Hot Rod Deluxe to play though and even though the overdrive is less then to be desired for its still a very good overdrive just to plug in and play. The blues deville had a clean channel and another channel that acted more like a boost. That was the cleanest sound I ever tried live in a room with about 100 people there. I had a Stratocaster too so think ice picks.
Our other guitarist had a Les paul in a Vox with a Big muff pedal so it seemed like one sound was Led Zeppelin and the other side was merle haggard. The owner said it was the best we had ever done up there, but it made me think that I am dire need of a Distortion or Overdrive pedal. I've said this before on here but as much pain as my ears suffered last night I want to make sure that doesn't happen again.
So I got a bit more back on my tax return then expected and don't have to sneek around my wife, I have $400 to buy some pedals. I don't want a multie effects pedal. Just a great overdrive or distortion pedal and maybe a modulation pedal or 2. I have a Delay, a Wah, and a Compressor pedal already so I don't want anything like that. My plan is to build a pedal board that I can just plug in and go anywhere weather its played in my amp or someone elses. I had a fine clean sound just no balls behind it last night.
