So sad.   From 2003 when I was introduced to Joe...Garth has been someone who, when I saw <G> on the forum, I knew that it would be a post to take note of! His support, knowledge and enthusiasm were always infectious. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Mr G.

Thnank you Jane. That is how I remember Garth. The smile.  That is how I pictured him when he posted.

Garth was a good friend of mine.  He is the one that taught me what good music was.  It is because of him I have begun listening to the blues.  I want to thank all of you for the kind words and the pictures you have posted.  I have copied some of the pictures to the face book memorial site.  All of you who are on face book are invited to post your pictures and kind words there as well.  For those of you that live in the Omaha area there will be a party in his honor in the spring just as he requested.  Any one interested let me know.  I will have the details soon.

Dang, this is really very, very sad. I'm choked up and not even having met him other than the old fansite photo and those other few OF him, he was a great good guy and fan of fans.   Going way, way, way back,"G" was always an active forum participant & observer-a timely, timeless poster, as opposed to always having to have something to say about everything, he spoke more with less words than I ever can. He was the exact opposite of trite. A lovely man and he always had the best avatars to boot, from his robot to his final animated G! Another sad, sad, day. I need a handkerchief now.  Garth, R.I.P. and if you're rockin' at heaven's door, All is well.  I can't rock on for a while though...
Hopefully his 2008 post of Joe Bonamassa's World Tour 2010 http://www.jbonamassa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=8347 will now include have him in attendance for all performances this year and always.

I've had a difficult time trying to organize my thoughts since my original post yesterday morning. I could talk about Garth's enthusiastic contributions to our early Street Team efforts and the Fan Website, his warm and friendly nature, his endearing sense of humor, or how he turned me on to some great music including David Gogo and The Gentelmens Blues Club.

The last email I received from <G> was on December 7th, 2009. I had written to him about Joanne Shaw Taylor coming to Omaha on February 4th, and told him I wanted pictures and a review. In the haste of my email I wrote February 4th, 2110 as the date she was coming, instead of 2010. Garth replied,

"2/4/2110?? **## Stu, I don't expect to last through 2010. WILL be a miracle if I do though. Yes, I've heard a few of her boots, but had no idea...will have to go...pics for Stu too!"

I thought he was just joking around as usual. I didn't have a clue.

I never knew Garth except thru the forum, yet after reading all these posts I am sorry I never got the chance.  He sounds like the prototype for so many other forum members - sharing, funny, and oh so knowing about the music!  His contributions here will be missed.

I only knew Garth via his posts when I was a pre-poster. Always cogent and to the point. I lost my best and closest buddy last year to the same disease. This news came back and hit me like a ton of bricks. It is a very tough way to go. Took a while to work up to this post.

My heart goes out to <G>'s family and to all his friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Rick
