Awwwww.......but Jim, I had such a good photo of some protesters in action:

How about we create a link to an off forum site where people could make charitable contributuons to their cause? Joe could even do a benefit concert! wink

gotta agree with jim on the fact it would get heated....
BUt while the thread is still here, if interested anyone feel free to write me for discussion on where to get more news coverage of the events on the conference. whether or not we can all agree on the facts the truth about the protests and the clamp down on them is not as easy to find as news about TWoods is.

Roy, I did laugh, but it was so old i almost fell off my dinosaur but anyhoo you know i don't think some subjects are particularly funny. The media issues top the list.

I agree Jane, but I try to look on the brighter side of life no matter what. If more people did that, maybe we wouldn't be fighting two wars in two different places! Hey, let's keep everything in perspective here, OK? Everyone has worries and concerns about many topics and yes, Global Warming is on many people's minds at the present. But keep in mind that we only have a short time left, in astrological terms, on this planet before our own sun begins to die. When it does, it will swell up and swallow the inner planets including us if we're still around and haven't blown each other up by then or had a big rock (asteroid) come down and end it all first. If the world could act like one giant group of people working together instead of all of the hate that is out there, just imagine what we could do with the resources that we have! Yeah, yeah, you'll say, but let's face it, if we don't find a way off this planet someday and somewhere else to live, we are all doomed here.

There, I said what I had to say and now it's time for me to go back to my morning cup of Joe (coffee on weekends, tea during the week) in my own little world.

Well said, Roy. The sad thing -again in Copenhagen- is that identification with (personal or collective) ego is much stronger than a sense of responsibitity for the whole. Which is ignorant, even in terms of egoism. Nonetheless it seems to be a constant human pattern, and a growing pollution is the consequence.

SO?  Nobody tells the truth on any news station anywhere.  Almost nobody serves the truth or the greater good.  Most (Thank you Guenter) are too busy looking down their nose at one another to be bothered.  Like you?  Is that what you just did?

I happen to agree with you but not because I think the BBC is any better...just different.  Roy is right.  We have wars because nobody tells the truth...not even to themselves...

Grumpy this morning
thought this thread was about Tiger Woods?  Like my yogini said, "...she married him.  She had to know..."

Re: Tiger Woods, any opinions?

Ian- your statement is really funny!! big_smile  My family is all stuck in the house with a snow storm (which is wonderful), my sons are home from college, I'm baking Christmas cookies and we were talking about bad boys in sports and then about the prime minister and his recent attack by a thrown statuette and my hubby was telling about the prime minister's statement  to prove his masculinity/ego about not paying for it...so defensive macho...I will never forget my one trip to Italy on our honeymoon to the LaScala Opera and all the older men with younger women on their arms, just like the scene from the movie Moonstruck.  Not that I'm sterotyping about Italian men being cheaters, I'm happily married to one. smile My favorite line from Moonstruck, "Why do men cheat?"

A quote from the PM.
"Never in my life, not even once, have I had to pay for a sexual encounter," Berlusconi said. "And I'll tell you why: for someone who loves to conquer, the greatest joy is the conquest, so I ask, 'if you pay, what joy can there be?'"

This philosophy helped to explain "why Italians like me and I have 68.4 percent of approval and admiration," said Berlusconi, who has been elected three times and is now the longest-serving leader in Italian post-war history.

When Berlusconi apologized to Zapatero for his lengthy answer, the Spanish leader said there was no need and it was "very interesting."

Back to Tiger, its complicated being that popular and living your life in a fishbowl.  I hope the kids end up OK and they all eventually find happiness. smile

I don´t think so. If you want to behave like a macho, it´s okay as long you stand for it. But being a hidden macho and playing the good  and repentant guy when you get unmasked - that´s only pathetic. (I´m not a Berlusconi fan.)

There must be a connection. I remember "my" thread about lost reading glasses which ended up in a thread about colonoscopy - at least here I have some assumptions about the connection.

Thanks Günter,

But just think of this. A couple of years ago we were having a broad based discussion at work about lots of things. One of the guys summed up everything in four little words exactly why things are the way they are. Those words were: "It's All About Money!"

Don't believe me? Let's face it, no matter what we discuss here; religion, politics, the environment, entertainment and so on, the bottom line to everything is it's all about MONEY. And why you ask? Money brings power, or as we say in here America, Money Talks! The more you have, the louder your voice.

When and if humans can do "What's Best" for "All Of Us" regardless of cost, then we'll have advanced beyond anything we could ever imagine. However, until that time comes, we'll keep going at the same suicidal pace, using up everything that dear Mother Earth gives us until she too has no more.

Roy

P.S. Damn, can you tell I had too much coffee this morning! wink
